No, once they get a load they will roughly equal each other in terms of performance because of thermals.

Also all MBPs with TouchBars are quad-cores or better. All MacBook Pros without a Touchbar are dual cores only.

I think you’re conflating models of MacBook Pro. The dual cores are only on 2016-17 MacBook Pros and are only good for light day to day work. Though I use a dual core for basic programming.

The quad core core models are worth it though.

In this case, Thunderbolt, a faster, more versatile (and way more expensive) alternative to USB.

1.5k$ for a dual core?? Can't you buy a much better non Apple laptop for that money?I mean at least a 4c8t+SSD+gtx 1070+ + 16gb ram better.Aren't these laptops insanely overpriced? Why would anyone give so much money for such weak hardware?

The touchbar model. MacBooks are usually shortened to rMBP w/ TB (Retina MacBook Pro with TouchBar) or without any of the letters to what they don't have, e.g. without a Retina display or Touch Bar would just be MBP.

The Touch Bar model is worth the price increase.

For everyone being offended from that i am purchasing that expensive and "shitty" laptop

  1. I am developer so i need a laptop that is small compact and have good battery this one weights : 1,3Kg it is small  (1,5cm), it is well built - alluminium body, great keyboard, can easily manage to last 8 hours and it has all the power that i need for programming (it's not like gaming laptop, it is for work...)
  2. Developing ios, macos apps
  3. Even if you we're still tilted then tell me reason why not to buy, but tho it's my money so u know...

If you want to convince me anyway, then go ahead and find a laptop that is lighter, thinner has that good keyboard and built quality and that lasts that long on battery for less money. Go ahead.

For what it's worth I'm a .NET developer (not .net core yet) and am looking for the same thing in non-mac form. I had considered a Macbook Pro, but then when I thought about it from both the cost and reality standpoint I wouldn't be using it as a Mac probably 95% of the time if not 99% of the time so why pay the apple tax?

Your situation is different in that you are developing iOS and Mac apps and only have the one choice unless you want to go "Hackintosh" and that's not necessarily reliable. The Dilemma I face with non-mac laptops are quite frankly every laptop manufacturer pretty much sucks. I worked for several companies over the years and quite frankly feel none of them can be trusted (Apple Included).

(Not going to sit here and type out the list of every company but here are some of the top)

Apple - see Louis Rossman's youtube channel

Dell - One of the companies I am close with had to RMA most of the laptops they received within 3 months

Razer - Ask Linus about the ones he bought for his staff

Asus - Not the worst, But QA seems to need improvement. ex:\\ A gaming laptop that was purchased didn't get the HDMI out tested. It was found after the warranty period expired because it's not often used. Granted this would be found quicker for a work laptop as HDMI out is a common use case.

Lenovo - Not worth Trusting Since Superfish, Not the sturdiest Build Quality either

So to all the anti-apple pushers I ask realistically, with Build Quality and Battery Life being the key tenets what else is there but the Macbook Pro?

If you are developing iOS apps then you should do it on a Mac for the best experience. End of story.

I am a .Net developer primarily (Been doing it since the days of sharp develop) but I will always use a Mac for developing for iOS (whether I am forced to use Xamarin or if I am able to use native code), and because their machines are actually pretty good for what you pay I can't think of a single reason why you shouldn't buy the machine from Apple.

Certainly "I don't like Apple and neither should you" is not a good reason for someone not to spend their own money on something they want and can even justify if it makes them money!

You would be much better off getting a quad core.

Brands I wholeheartedly reccomend (though do have flawed products): Apple, Razer, Corsair, Asus, Gigabyte, bequiet!, Noctua, Fractal, GSkill (RAM only)
