How do you know if your cpu cooler can keep up with your cpu?

 

So I recently built my first PC with an AMD fx 8350 4ghz CPU, 16gb @1600mhz Gskill sniper series memory, GTX 1050ti, and a Gigabyte - GA-970A-DS3P ATX AM3+ Motherboard.  I bought the Coolermaster hyper 212 Evo, thinking it would be able to keep up with the CPU. but I noticed a problem when playing BF1, BF5, and Arma 3 that I got reduced performance or the PC would shut down and restart completely. I then started recording my temps on several different programs (SpeedFan, Openhardwaremonitor) and they all said the same thing that my CPU was sitting at 60c under load with all my fans at full speed. Now I'm looking at buying a Corsair H100i pro liquid cooler, but how do I know that it will keep up with my metal heating pad of a CPU?

if the CPU is just at 60C then CPU cooling isn't a problem

60C is no where near where your CPU will throttle or where your system will shutdown, so it's likely you wont notice a difference with any CPU cooler.

Thats not the solution to your problem. Sounds more like you've overclocked the CPU or GPU and computer says no.

FX is odd and should be kept under 75C iirc because the temp probe doesn't exist and it is just guessing. Either way 60C should be perfectly fine... 

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

You CPU has a attribute called Thermal Design Power (TDP) that indicates the maximum amount of heat generated by the silicon that the cooling system in a computer is designed to dissipate under any workload. Shop your cooler according to the TDP.

That said, your problem might not be the cooler. If the system shuts down under intensive load, it's likely a problem with your PSU tripping or a failing motherboard power delivery.

VRM gets overheated and CPU throttles because of that.
Don't match boards with crappy VRM with OC'ed FX-8xx0 series CPUs.

Try droppinjg Vcore by 0,1V, and see if it's stable.

Could have gotten it from someone else's old system. 

 

I agree with @SkyHound0202, it sounds like there's something else going on.  It's probably struggling to get enough (or stable) power to the CPU.
