No light in my living room rental?

I rented a new home but the problem is all the rooms have light fixture but the living room what are the options for me? to light the living room properly (i don't know how to drill or anything and i don't want to get an electrician ? is there any rechargeable bulbs or whatever

yes there are stand lamps available that may blind you and make you feel your living room is a supernovae

I've run into the same thing. My current place has no lights in the bedrooms or the living room. It's not really the lamp that matters, it's more the bulb. 65 to 75 watt works really well for normal bulbs, but LED will put out way more light for the fraction of the cost.

Agree, actually if you have the money for them, I would buy something like xiaomi yeelights if you want a bit more control over how much light/hue etc you want at any time. You'd just need to find lamps with a ES 27 fitting then fir the yeelight(s). They can be controlled from smartphone when you want to change the brightness/colour etc then. I got some recently and have enabled alexa to control it too, so I can now ask alexa to change brightness/colour etc for me OR do it myself on the phone.

Or, if you just want cheap, get some standard lamps and get LED bulbs for them... BTW the yeelight is also LED, and LEDS have a typical lifespan of around 15000/20000 hours before they need replacing.

You could also buy those LED neon tube / light strips and use double sided adhesive tape to stick it to the roof of your room

Usually, homes with such designs, has 1 of the 2 wall plugs connected to a room light switch. It is designed for you to put floor lamps, and have the room light switch turn them on or off. If you have a light switch that does nothing, it is probably it.

 

Alternatively, you can get floor lamps, and get those (and they are inexpensive, I saw them at Costco < 30$) remote control switch.

Basically you plug the lights to the box and teh box to the wall, and you have a remote control with an on/off button, and when you press "on", it turns on the light.

 

Here is an example (the number of plugs varies based on models, so pick what you need. You have fancier ones with Bluetooth and you can use your phone as the remote as well as the provided remote.. but of course costs more)

yeah, i got a 300W halogen stand lamp ... boy that thing is bright. and it doubles as a pretty decent space heater :D

Anything with an LED bulb in it. Those LED bulbs are pretty bright.
