I can't even

DrMacintosh

So I was looking at USB C to Ethernet adapters again and I was reading some reviews and I saw this

Capture3.PNG.fa31b290558148022008b0afae845ddc.PNG

This person actually tried to hook up the adapter to Ethernet and then plugged two tablets over USB and expected them to suddenly have an internet connection! Don't even get me started on the fact that it doesn't even appear to be plugged into his laptop......

Freaking genius!

Not to mention he leaves a review saying he wants to return it rather than just doing that and then explaining why he did return it in the review

Thing is it can be done. Got a stationary tablet at my desk which is hooked up to ethernet because f... wifi. Problem with such reviews is that they don't state s**t about anything or the device in question. Which is a problem for items with little to close to none reviews, those that got 1000+ reviews can take that sort or useless blabbering.

Why is it so damn hard to buy a freaking router?

Place it somewhere and you have internet all around the house.

But no ... I will just use cable to have internet on my tablet and walk around with it like a dog on a leash.

Then again it might be possible that this person doesn't even know about wi-fi ... I really shouldn't judge.

If you stopped using Apple products you wouldn't need Ethernet to USB adapters. Problem solved.

You know, Apple, with their planned obsolescence, proprietary repair tools, and overpriced pieces of plastic made by little Asian girls in a sweatshop in the middle of a field, with their real headquarters in Ireland so they can get around tax laws in the US.

But that's none of my business.

You're right, it is none of your business and you don't know anything about Apple and you clearly don't want to know, your mind is already made up.

Sounds like pretty much every piece of consumer electronics in the world to me.

Also, what proprietary repair tools are you talking about, specifically? Hopefully not the Torx Screws, because that's not proprietary at all.

Apple is far from the only Laptop Manufacturer to not include an Ethernet port. Bash Apple if you want to, but at least bash them for legitimate concerns.

Where did I say any thing about Apple? I told that user that what he did can only start yet another brands war.

You're right, you didn't specifically mention anything about Apple, but your post did seem like an implied agreement. My comment was mostly in general, and/or towards @H0R53. I should have quoted him, but I was being lazy :)

You people seem to think I'm referring to @OP when I say that, but I was talking about the iPad in the screenshot. Lol.

Louis' issues mostly stem around the non-repairable nature of many Apple products (soldered components, glued screens, etc), and the fact that Apple doesn't want to give up repair manuals.

These issues are not uniquely Apple issues, but most ultra compact electronics (ultrabooks in particular) face similar issues.

You could say that doesn't mean you can't call out Apple - you should of course call them out when they do something wrong. But I find many users on this forum (not addressed to you) tend to have double standards, where they'll give their favourite brand a pass for no discernible reason.

Well for the most part, I trust elecronics that are 5 years or older far more than I trust new electroincs because of the premise that if it's lasted 5 year it'll last 10, etc.

My laptop is 10 years old and I took it apart to clean, except it was spotless to begin with. That's good engineering.

On the other hand, I took apart a 10 year old MacBook, and there was a spider nest inside it. Needless to say it was properly disposed of in the incendiary waste disposal.

I don't use any brands that don't trust their customers, like Apple does.

I'm still on Android 4.4.4 because Google implemented the FRP lock, which shows that they don't trust their customers.

Samsung, for example, started using non-removable batteries.

So I have an SGS4, and am getting a used SGS5.

What apple is doing, they are doing because 1) they are retards 2) they don't trust customers, 3) more money through planned obsolescence, 4) they hate everyone anyway.

If you can't take it apart to service it yourself, it's not worth buying.

My laptop does everything I need it to do. Once Windows 7 reaches EoL I'm putting Ubuntu on it. Oldest working laptop, lol. I'm gonna give this thing to my grandkids.
