I took apart my 10 year old laptop

H0R53

I have an MPC Transport T2400 that needed routine cleaning. The thing was...it didn't.

My best guess was that it sat in box on a shelf for 90% of its existence.

It had never been disassembled prior to my ownership.

Here's the motherboard, and fan, no cleaning required.

I took it apart because the chassis needed a touch up, it had some pretty major scuffs and I plan on repainting it.

@H0R53 Thanks for sharing. I love seeing "whats inside the box". I especially admire the tin full of bits and pieces. I'm about to take apart an old Vaio my sister was going to recycle. I asked if I could have just so I could learn about laptops. I've always built PC's. Now I'm inspired!  9_9

Best Excuses:

#1(simple) "Well, I never liked that stupid thing anyway!"

#2(complex) "Obviously there was a flaw in the material, probably due to the inadvertent introduction of contaminants during the manufacturing process."

Like i was saying, I needed to repaint the bottom part of the chassis.

I decided I'm gonna do the whole thing.

Chassis will be matte black and glossy red.

Bottom chassis has been painted, preparing speaker cover, and RAM cover done.

Sorry for potato pics.

Looking well.

I still need the HDD cover, but the rest of it looks great.

I'm going to paint the palmrest black and the bezel red. I just need better tape.

Since this is literally used only for Google Chrome and one game that I play one a month, I'm gonna put in a 32GB SSD and take out the 1TB HDD that's in it now.

That's mostly screws. A few things make it in there so I don't lose them.
