GTX 1060 leak (TAKE WITH A TRUCKLOAD OF SALT)

8 minutes ago, porina said:

What might eventually happen? It'll be a bit faster, and cost a bit more. Brand differences are probably more important than raw performance here. Once old stock of 960 and 950 go down I'm sure they'll fill with 1050 eventually too.

If the 120W claim is correct though, I think you can bet that factory OC cards will be nudging towards 150W...

170*

OCs can great affect the power consumption of a card :P

But will it? That will be half the price of 1070. People will just buy two and SLI them to beat the 1070.

So nvidia make the same money and 2 sales?

the 1070 starts at $379 so $249 for the 1060 seems reasonable perhaps $279 is more likely?

Most people dont SLI, its quite a niche thing

For other areas probably, willing to bet you that the FE cards will still priced at the exact same price here in America for at least another year.

According to this leak, the GTX 1060 runs the GP-106 chip, and has 1280 CUDA Cores at up to 1700 Mhz, 6GB of 8Gbps GDDR5 VRAM on a 192-bit bus. All of that makes for 4.4 TFLOPS of floating point performance. The TDP is a mere 120W.

If all of this is true, the claims of Nvidia is that it is 15% faster on gaming performance than the RX 480, 25% faster on VR, and more than 40% more efficient. Poor RX 480...

What are your thoughts on this?

We have quiet a few 1070 and 1080s here in stock,

let me tell you the price is not going down.

Retailers will maintain launch prices here until the very end

How's 4.4 TFLOP gonna be faster than a 5.8 TFLOP 480? How are those teraflops measured anyway?

Seems legit... being serious.  Is there a price tag on it?  Then we can talk about it properly.

TFLOPS aren't the same on every architecture. For instance, my old GTX 780 Ti had 5.87 tflops while a 980 Ti (ref) has 6.5, but the performance is much higher. We'll have to wait.

1070 FE costs $571 USD in my area lol. That price will stay for 1.5 years.

660 was $229 at launch, 760 was $249 at launch and 960 was $199 at launch. It never went above $249. I guess it'll stay below $249 to beat the RX 480's price. May be the 3GB variant at $239 and 6GB variant at $269. :)
