Apple snuck a USB3 capable Lightning connector on the iPad Pro!

 

But there's a catch. Apple are buttholes and if you want USB3 lightning cables you'll have to pay extra. USB2 Lightning cables come in the box.

To be serious, is anyone actually going to use the bandwidth? Samsung removed usb 3.0 because the connector was bigger but also because they didn't need it. Also you can't use an Apple device for a flash drive.

My i5 6500 is bad and can't even maintain 4.5ghz, and 4.4ghz causes it to slowly become unstable over weeks with a vcore of 1.395. FML

I wonder if this is because they're gonna allow things to be transferred to it in future iOS versions like photos or videos where people can use the beastly A9X for some limited editing. 

 

Oh and I mean photos from USBs and hard drives, not from your computer using iTunes.

I would get the iPad pro on iOS 9.0.2

jailbreak it

use it as a fast big fat ipad like usb

Apple in all their infinite wisdom didn't advertise what might be the saving grace of this thing, with that bandwidth you can trow a really capable hub into it and make it much more practical.

lighting is pretty much USB with a different connectors, digitally its almost the same thing.

Its a usb cable with a proprietary connector with a chip so they can force you to only use licensed cables.

Dude...if you jailbreak an iPad Pro....I'm salivating over the possibilities it opens up....explorable file system, sideloading, downloading from Safari, themes, flu.x and way way more that I can't think of right now.

Well it is not confirmed that Apple will even make a USB 3.0 cable (it would be stupid if they didn't) We just know that the cable shipped with it doesn't have enough pins. I wonder if someone will make a custom one to see if it even works

The hardware is BEASTLY and this thing has SO MUCH POTENTIAL but its being held back by stupid iOS restrictions....

For the price you pay for the ipad "pro" it should ship with a hub to connect USB devices and HDMI, and add a proper file manager to iOS.

Its really laughable that Apple hasn't implemented a user accessible file system into iOS even by their own gimped standards of just managing use folders like documents and pictures, it wouldn't hurt them at all if someone could move its own files to different user folders.
