As an aside, newegg and a few other places have prices so insanely low for shiny new toys I'm having trouble justifying the purchases of said toys, given my system has more power and space than I know what to do with.

It's getting dangerous to look at newegg during this holiday season...

NOTE: I no longer frequent this site. If you really need help, PM/DM me and my e.mail will alert me.

Sick of using just my headphones for my PC, it's a super high-end setup (schiit yggydrasil DAC, HD800s' headphones, sennheiser HDV820 amp) but I just prefer speakers over any headphone setup.

LTT's Resident Porsche fanboy and nutjob Audiophile.

Main speaker setup is now;

Mini DSP SHD Studio -> 2x Mola Mola Tambaqui DAC's (fed by AES/EBU, one feeds the left sub and main, the other feeds the right side) -> 2x Neumann KH420 + 2x Neumann KH870

(Having a totally seperate DAC for each channel is game changing for sound quality)

I got a shitty 256GB NVMe SSD for my desktop. Yay!

image0.jpg

Idk about shitty. Not the best for sure, but I am running a 512gb version in my desktop as a boot drive and I have no complaints. It is Microcenter's house brand and had a few of their sellers tell me that they all run one in their system with no issues. Loving the SSD prices. I built my first computer over the summer and started with a stand alone SSD, switched it over to M.2 so now I am only SSD storage and both M.2s... Loving it!

Right?! I am SOO POOR! Lmao all joking aside, I have the Crucial MX500 1tb in the second slot. When I got the MX500 the P1 wasn't cheaper lol. At this point its CRAZY! The P1 is NVME and 1tb and sub $100, where as the MX500 1tb non NVME is over $100! I settled on the MX500 because the board I have cant run two NVME drives with a GPU in there. So Sata is my speed limit as it is... Least thats how I understood it.

I am getting my eyes on the idea of building an ITX build if I ever need to downsize... Only choice is M.2 ssds lol

Amateurs! My desktop had a 128GB boot drive but five 4TB SSDs (the desktop died but I still have the 4tb drives for the next one). Don't even ask how many backup drives there are (hint - 20).

Finally upgraded my monitor, coming from a 1080p 21inch 60hz LG monitor from 2009, its definitely a massive upgrade. I picked the Omen X 35 because I really liked the design and the panel seemed good enough. Also the price I paid for it sealed the deal, £291 with free shipping on amazon. The monitor is basically brand new, it still had all the stickers and accesories, no cosmetic damage aside from the box.

Inside the boximage0.thumb.jpeg.eee6b7a65b9ecd5b6541aa66faf5e17d.jpeg

Monitor was really well packed with foam, which was nice.

Before purchasing I knew that the omen x 35 had some faults when it was first manufactured, so i was a bit concerned. Luckily I got the 2018 model with the updated firmware ax161 which fixed the ghosting, overshoot and gsync issue. My panel was really good, no dead pixels and the backlight bleed is very minimal, hardly visible. I downloaded an icc profile from a reviewer which improved the greys, but a friend is lending me his spyder 5 pro to properly calibrate soon. Anyways, i'm super happy with it, it is absolutely stunning and immersive as expected. For £291 I cannot fault it at all.

FiiO FH5 IEMs. Had my eyes on these for about a month and finally bit the bullet to get them since my Amazon Prime was about to expire and I wanted to get that on-day shipping secured for it. Originally was going to buy these when December arrives as an early Christmas present to myself.
