what model?

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

Futureproofing's entirely subjective.  I built a new system three years ago and I feel envy when it comes to some newer parts, but no compelling drive to upgrade.  Unless you see something you HAVE to have, or it's not meeting your needs, it's like buying a new car.  Why bother if the old one's fine?

I would guess unless your CPU eats itself from the overclock or something else blows out, the thing that would likely annoy you first would be the GPU feeling too slow or memory not being enough...at least for me, it's never the CPU that causes me to upgrade.

Its not the greatest mb but I didnt know better at the time. I'd say, a r5 3600 would be as far as I can push it.

well it's already low on ram so 2 out of 10 I spose

pretty low on disk space too

ram is a little low. I would have grabbed a larger HDD. 2TB

maybe a bigger SSD.

That PSU and board will likely need to be changed for upgrades.

I dont have a ton of games, I usually cycle though 1 or 2 a year. I play a lot of vr games, which are usually well under 10 gb each. Right now, my storage isnt even 50% full.

As far as RAM, 16 gb is likely my next upgrade.

was the goal of the thread for people to do as you've asked then you come up with a reason that they are wrong due to your specific use case?

In that case a commodore 64 is future proof because i specifically am doing something with it that fits in the confines of it's specs. yay me.

Not trying to prove anyone wrong. Im just curious about how future proof it is for upcoming titles in the next few years. I probably should have mentioned that unless titles in the next few years are 2 tb each, storage shouldnt be an issue.

I fully realize that 8gb of ram is kind of the bare minimum even today. I even mentioned that is likely my next upgrade after another poster said 8 gb may not be enough.

Anyways, you answered my question...if it fits my parameters for use then that is all that really matters.

Thanks everyone for your input.

Yeah, its not good. I believe though it is the same exact PSU Linus used in a super budget build video. I screwed up when I built it because I didn't know better at the time...it is definitely a weak point.

so from what i gathered that games are built around diffrent hardware specs. some games work better using an amd cards vs nvida and vise versa.

some game like cores count, some like mhz speed. some like fewer cores(yes you can get lots of cores at hi mhz rate like 5mhz across 12 cores but its not cheap)

some games like lots of ram. some games like lots of vram on the gpu.

so depending on what games your playing will depend on how future proof you build is.

basically make it as fast as you can afford.

I have dyslexia plz be kind to me. dont like my post dont read it or respond thx

also i edit post alot because you no why...

Not bad, You can always add ram and storage as needed. You should be good for awhile. Don't really know what the use case is in your pc. I would guess gaming. The 5700 is a good card.

Thanks, the 'weak' points are the MB and PSU...

The case is a Vivo 'smart'
