Yup, but space is 2.7 degrees kelvin, near absolute 0 and in sun it’s around 288 kelvin (240 f) it’s not actually 240f but the sun in your body will keep your skin temp at 240f and burn you to death from radiation.

and if the space craft is spinning from shade to sun then it will most likely kill any bacteria from the quick heat differences.

    Well, we're already this far.

The first FTL flight in the Star Trek universe occurred in 2063. At our current rate of development, we will not make this deadline. This is important, because FTL flight is required to establish stable dependent colonies on any bodies besides our moon. We likely won't walk on an another planetary body again, including our moon, until we move past combustion engines for spaceflight. (Yes, I'm saying Trumps promise of the moon by 2024 is complete and utter bullshit. For more reasons than just this too.)

Beyond this, Earth is the only naturally habitable planet in our solar system. There is one other planet within habitable distance of our sun, Venus, but it is no where near habitable. The least of Venus' habitability issues is no water.

So, in order to inhabitant any other planets within our solar system with a large enough population to prevent species dependence on a single planet, we will need effective, positive, and planet scale environmental control systems. These are also a requirement for continued habitation on Earth. Currently, the only remotely pressing natural mass extinction issue is climate change, so if we develop planet scale environmental control systems, we will not be at risk of extinction within many millions of years.

Of course, all of that is meaningless anyway. If we are only inhabiting planets in our solar system, and we have effective planet scale environmental control systems, humans are not at risk of naturally caused mass extinction on Earth until our Suns death, which will, of course, lead to an end of life everywhere in our solar system. Therefore, we don't just need FTL flight to make the plan worthwhile, we need the ability to establish stable dependent colonies in other solar systems.

Oh, and to beat all of that, as long as humans are at risk of nuclear mass extinction events, the whole practice is meaningless because they will be at risk of that everywhere. So in order to make any of it meaningful, we also have to convince all people currently in existence, and all people in future existence, to give up nuclear weapons at least until we encounter other, hostile, intelligent life. Good luck with that.

Right now, the issue is money and focus. Those with enough money are not focused enough to get there. Musk could maybe get there, but he's been having some serious personal issues lately that are gravely affecting the functioning of his businesses. Bezos claims to be trying to get orbital ferry flights, but he lacks enough focus to get there as well. There is a third company, Space Adventures, which claims to be offering orbital spacewalk flights, ISS visits, and circumlunar flights. Their current plans are based on corrupt Russian government contacts, and to date, they have sold three seats, but failed to make a single flight. They are quoting $150,000,000 USD for a circumlunar flight, but this is no where near enough money to actually get a human to lunar orbit. During the Apollo age, it's estimated that lunar excursions cost over a million dollars a minute, and that was in 1970's money. At our current state, non state actors conducting space flights with the possibility for any ill effects other than more orbital garbage is a non-issue.

The final point is that, for the reasons I've listed above, none of that is currently a meaningful issue. Besides that, when it becomes a meaningful issue, we will need to solve it lazily. Meaning, there are too many things that we do not know to develop some sort of master plan about how to spread human life through the universe. We are simply not advanced enough to even reason about these issues in meaningful ways yet.

other than that this is a thing.
windows can select a primary rendering (high performance) GPU, as such you should be fine running some cheap GPU together with a newer one.

there are also expencive dedicated display GPUs

like these things, that do 6 displays at once. in the end, id probably just get something low end to pair next to the main GPU.

kinda sad that 6 monitor support is seen as a enterprise feature.

I understand that we need to wait for our scientists around the world to come to a conclusion but that's my issue. I don’t believe that will ever happen at some point we will have searched so many stars that it will take centuries to go to more and find out if it has life. So at what point do we just give up and say well we searched within a radius of 1 million miles, 1 light year, 100 light years, a million, or maybe a trillion light years wide.

At what point do we say enough is enough we need to start seeding life. When we are about to go extinct would that be the right time? Then you might ask are we in a stable rational mindset at that point. Won’t we be clouded by the fact we are going extinct for the last time on this world, who knows?

Perhaps we’ll send out seed probes when someone on the planet can do so. Once we become a space faring species whats stopping some moron, terrorist, bad guy, or what have you to say fuck you i’m gonna do it anyway. With a billion humans that's VERY LIKELY with well over 10-12 billion at this time I’m guaranteeing it’ll happen. What then how do we stop that do we limit space access for those on the surface and those in space? Do only scientists and VETTED personal get the chance to send stuff up. If so how do we police that? To many questions to go on about but you get my point.

Magnetar_Byte reacted to RorzNZ in Is human evolution over?
I think what you are trying to say is that some familial traits may be absolved out of the gene pool. We already have  many non-functioning genes in our genome,  in-fact most of our genome isn't even made up of functional genes - they only make up 1% of our whole genome, even with those we have vestigial and pseudogenes. It would be an assumption that one individual would impact the population in this way.
What your misconception here is to look at evolution on an individual level - it simply does not occur in that fashion, but rather looking at a population we can see some differences. Evolution will not change due to population size, unless it is a very small population, in which Genetic Drift will occur.

So to see if Evolution is truly happening in our population we can look at the four markers that will induce evolution, which is the change in allele frequencies.

    1) Genetic Drift
    - Genetic drift is the change in allele frequencies due to chance.
    - This will not occur due to the world population. It only has a chance of happening in small, isolated communities, I think there is an example of a small village in Italy, and perhaps isolated tribesmen of this happening. It can occur in infinite populations, however the effect is reduced. There needs to be a bottleneck effect.

    2) Migration
    - With new transport, all the time. Everyone is migrating everywhere.
    - The change in alleles depends on the migrants and the source population, humans are quite similar enough for this to have a relatively small effect.
    - Certain populations have different alleles, and are different that we use gene sequencing to determine, really easily enough, where your ancestors are from. This means with migration there may exchange of these hereditary genes causing a shift in allele frequencies - however with relatively benign genes its nothing major.

    3) Selection
    - Over the years this has grown pretty prominent. I think an example would be the Black Death in Europe, I think it mutated the CCR5 gene, so because its a target for HIV, over the years Europeans grew resistant to HIV due to the pressure by the Black Death. Its really cool, so we see Africans, Asians and Native Americans don't have this mutated CCR5 and so are more susceptible to HIV.
    - What we will see is more pressures I suspect quite like this, related to chronic diseases as they become more prevalent and incurable.
    - Selection is definitely occurring. You shouldn't think big for evolutionary selection, people might say the environment or perhaps isolation, but they are becoming more archaic concepts.

    4) Mutation
    - Mutation is definitely occurring, we see it all the time, people being born with genetic defects, likewise other genetic adaptations may occur.
    - Mutations happen all the time in your body, its not simply inheritance. There are many ways for genes to arise on a molecular level; gene duplication, transposition, pseudogenes, lateral gene translation etc. Think about cancer, how that arises. You won't develop a third arm or anything, but certain habits can transcribe different processes allowing different susceptibilities, for instance smoking will give you lung cancer due to the carcinogens and effect on your epigenetics. Likewise new technologies can correct the mutations.
    - Lots of mutations can occur on this scale and be passed down, however these mutations are often just point mutations and mutation is a relatively small force to guide evolution.
    - We have a relationship between mutation and selection, if a mutation is favourable to the fitness of an individual, that individual will theoretically live longer and produce more offspring.

Ya ik its better. But for me I don't mind using it. I like the older windows compatibility, stabler OS boots, plus my drives are all 1tb and under. My HDD's are of course using GPT tho since there well above 2tbs in some cases.

I suppose your right. But manually doing all that would take quite a bit when I'd get no advantage for doing so. Also I wanted to figure out what the hell the second reserved file was when I finally got around to installing my new Main drive. So I'm happy I kill two birds with one stone essentially.

    Updates:
    1st
So the storage spaces problem was that I had the drives allocated so it wasn't working. I wiped them and left them unallocated they now work to pool, well they create the pool and let me change the settings of it so thats a start. I then realized I couldn't do the 3 parity fake raid 6 windows offers because its raid 10 and I don't have another 5th drive to add. I have t sets of 4 drives and I'm not breaking that up.

    2nd
SO I'm now thinking freeNAS is the way to go. But I'm still hesitant. Reason being is that i don't want a networked attached storage, I'm about to leave for college. So i want the storage raid pool to be able to be just unplugged stuck in a corned and get turned on when I need to throw data onto the archive.

Is that possible and by possible I mean will it work., not be some janky shit that freeNAS isn't meant to be used for?

    3rd
since I plan to not have them networked attached as of yet since I still have to go through school so I can get to the stable life part so I can then create a proper network for my place. So is it possible to just set up the array on my current main pc and then just plug in the array and sign when I need to drop data on it?? or does the thing seriously need to be on all the time?

No offense, but you need to tone that down if you want people to help instead of just getting frustrated.

Look - I get it. This can get complicated and frustrating really easily. But we want to help you. But sometimes there isn't just some magical answer that will just solve the problem.
He's giving you usable advice - if using PowerShell to send that command is too much, then perhaps Storage Spaces isn't the right solution. That's okay, but that doesn't make it a bad solution. Storage Spaces is definitely not for beginners, since troubleshooting almost certainly requires some basic PowerShell knowledge and usage.

The drives showing up in Disk Management is useful information, but ultimately doesn't tell you much.
I'd suggest you start with a Storage Spaces guide, and also read up on the different PowerShell commands for it.

    Example:
get-physicaldisk Is a PowerShell command that will return all available physical disks for storage spaces. If it doesn't show up here, it won't work inside your array (and that can help us identify why it won't work, and how we might fix it).
    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powershell/module/storage/get-physicaldisk?view=win10-ps

If you find this to be too involved - that's cool. Let's find a different solution more suited to you. Do you need to run Windows specifically? You mentioned FreeNAS in the OP, so I assume Windows is not mandatory.

If that's the case, FreeNAS might be a better option, because it's a bit more straight forward, due to the WebUI nature of setting on a ZFS RAIDZ2 (which would be the "RAID6" you mention in the OP).

Note: FreeNAS can be a bit weird with permissions sometimes, but usually it's fine once you setup a SMB Share (you set permissions from the client computer, not from the FreeNAS GUI).

Here's a straight forward 'walk you through every step' guide for FreeNAS to get you started:
