okay well this probably will sound pretty ridiculous. But the tube was AT LEAST a year old and has been used before. I think it actually was some kind of mx4 thermal paste. But yk, OLD.

oh yeah totally. not my first rodeo with reapplying thermal paste.

So yeh i got some kryonaut thermal paste for a few dollars. Just applied it and so far seems like its been fixed. Highest settings, 200% render resolution at 1080p in Destiny 2, max 70c at roughly 1300rpm. nice.

Deuxez got a reaction from da na in XFX RS RX 480 With Raijintek Morpheus II
So i finally got enough of the shitty cooler that this card comes with and decided that a Morpheus II would be the best bet. Ordered it yesterday and it arrived today. I was first a bit confused as to how it were suppose to be mounted on the card, but once i finally figured it out everything else came together with ease. Only other thing i had some small problems with was the VRM cooling. The included adhesive thermal pads did not like the small VRMs and did not stick to them at all. I had to tape together a few of the bigger heatsinks with the same adhesive due to the smaller heatsinks not being able to stick to the thermal adhesive. I also had to use a zip-tie through the normal VRM heatsink mounting holes to hold it down. (zip-tie was added a bit after this photo was taken)     NOTICE: the RX 480 got 14mm between the mounting holes while the heatsink got ~13.8/13.9mm or something like that. So it doesnt fit perfectly but still close enough for it to be mountable and not do any damage to the card.   I also noticed that the VRAM never really had any sort of cooling on the old heatsink. They did not touch the heatsink and they did not have any smaller heatsinks attached to them either, so they should be able to perform a bit better now with some real cooling ontop of them. The cards backplate didnt fit with the new cooler either if you wanted to know.   Before i mounted the new cooler, the card would usually sit around 80c while gaming, and if the game was too demanding it could easily jump to 86c. The fans didnt really adjust their speed according to GPU temps either, they just kinda went full speed whenever they wanted to (~2800rpm). Now it got 2 120mm BeQuiet fans strapped onto it running at a constant ~600 rpm.   However, with the new cooler installed it NEVER reaches anything above 55c!! Screenshot is after 2 hours of Destiny 2 gameplay at high settings, 1080p at 144hz. I also tried Valheim as i knew that game really liked to boil my GPU even at lowest settings. But i can now run it at highest settings while still staying around 50-60c!! While it still was kinda hard to mount its still a mod i really recommend due to insane difference in both sound and temps! GPU-sag is something to look out for tho as the heatsink and 2 120mm fans can weigh quite a lot more than the original heatsink.   I also tried running Furmark just to see how good it would perform under extreme usage. And after 3 years of shitty GPU heatsink i must say that im EXTREMLY suprised by how cool and quiet it is! This is after 20 min of furmark at 1080p Fullscreen and 4x MSAA Anti-aliasing:   Its a lot more THICC than before too. Easily takes up 3 PCIe slots, so make sure you got a big case that also supports longer GPUs as the heatsink will stick out depending where the die is. Dont thighten the heatsink too much either as the card can start to flex (mine does flex a bit upwards, so ill have to loosen the mounting a bit). Dont roast my PC, i know its dusty af. Im going to give it a good clean tomorrow. Also, MSI really trolled me with their "black" motherboard, that turned out to be shit-brown instead. >:/

That chip can draw over 220W at load, so yeah, I'd find a power supply with two EPS connectors.

It's also worth mentioning that there's absolutely no sense to getting a K sku and a Z mobo, unless you plan on actually pushing it past stock. In that regard, having a very high quality PSU is incredibly important. Corsair's CX line is good, but it's not a high end PSU. In short, if you're going to splurge, splurge on the PSU as well. Otherwise, I'd just get something like a 12400 and a B660/H670. Then, you'd be fine with that PSU.

I think this is going to very much depend on the person. It's very much a personal opinion. Honestly there isn't going to be just one best answer. There maybe one that you play more often than others, but likely you'll play several. Maybe it's what you had as a kid, maybe it's just a system that has a library of a good games.

I wasn't a kid when the Atari 2600 was out, but I actually pretty frequently play those games.

When I travel I usually take a 8bitdo controller with me, so I can "really" enjoy the games while at the hotels and such.

No, don't change GPU. Change CPU...

Yeah Yeah its understandable. The market can be very different between countries or even states, and it can be hard for other people to know how the market looks.

It seems like the G305 still uses their "hero" sensor, so battery life should still be pretty good compared to other wireless mice. It got all the functions every other Logitech wireless mouse has, except for Bluetooth. But I've personally never used Bluetooth, as it HAS some latency compared to their lightspeed USB, so you are not missing out on something.

The G305 overall just looks like every other wireless logitech mouse except the shape and of course, price.
    Id say go for it!

Deuxez got a reaction from boardy89 in Can't figure out what I need to get two graphics card powered up.
Bro, if a PSU doesnt have enough PCIe cables, then you shouldnt try and add more with adapters and stuff like that. It most likely wont be able to power them. Just like @Vishera said above.

Also, if a card got 1x6 and 1x8 pin power input, it must be for a reason. You cant just plug in the 1x6 and think the card will still be able to get enough power from just that one. Plus that 6 - 8 pin adapter wont really work unless it got both 6 pin power cables attached. A 6 pin alone only have 6 pins, not 8, where are the last 2 pins suppose to get their power from? (the last 2 pins MAY in some cases just be extra ground contacts, but you should still not use the adapter unless you got both power sources plugged in).

Molex to PCIe power cables are NOT safe in any way either. Dont use them unless you want to fry your system.

And for SLI to work, you need a SLI supported motherboard, a SLI bridge but most importantly 2x of the same GPUs.

If you are NOT after SLI, and just want 2 GPUs in the same system for separate things, you still need a better PSU to power them both.

Deuxez reacted to Vishera in Can't figure out what I need to get two graphics card powered up.
    Adapters are a fire hazard,
If your PSU doesn't have more cables - It probably can't handle more PCI-E cables anyway.
It's either a new power supply or just don't use a second card at all.
In order for SLI to work you need two matching cards, but your cards are different.
    It won't work anyway.

Also you need a SLI bridge, and a SLI compatible motherboard.

It can provide up to 150w, so the system will turn on and work, but you'll probably be limited on the boost clocks.

That said, if your PSU is low end enough that it only has a single 4 pins, it probably doesn't have enough wattage for the entire system, especially if there's a GPU.

8GB of ram should be enough for 1-6 players with 16 render distance. The CPU should also be powerful enough when it comes to rendering new chunks, tho jumping between dimensions CAN bring a few sec of lag. A SSD is always great too.

There shouldnt be any type of problem running a minecraft server on this setup. GL

There's a special tool for the miniFit Jr. series of connectors (the series name for pci-e and atx connectors).
    Example : https://www.newark.com/molex/11-03-0044/extraction-tool/dp/94F9674
but you can find cheaper clones or chinese tools that do the same job for maybe 10$

If you don't want to buy the tool, you can basically sharpen some tweezers and make it work. You have to slide in from both sides to press the "ears" of the contact inside, then pull out the cable.
Note though that the wires are crimped to the pins so that middle 6+2 connector has the two wires crimped into the pins, if you want to fully get rid of that second 6+2 connector you'd still have to CUT the wires at the base of each pin in the first connector, where they're crimped into the pins.

It may make more sense to go to a site like cablemod and spend a few dollars ordering a custom cable with just one 8pin or a 6+2 at the end and leave your original power supply cables untouched.

Heres the problem, AMD's hardware encoding is garbage tier compared to Nvidia's NVENC. My 6800M struggles to record using its hardware encoder in most games and I end up having to use X264 encoding to leverage my CPU instead of my 6800M. So if you have spare CPU horsepower left id recommend switching to X264

You are going to want to oc the cpu cause mc is single threaded, i think on these cpus the oc you can expect for the ryzen 3 seems to be 4.5ghz w around 1.4-1.45v

And honestly id try finding a cheaper used card instead of a 1030, maybe you can find some gtx 400-900 series or r9 graphics cards for a decent price

And for streaming just buy a tesla k10 off ebay and use that, you could do some hackery to make it output out of another gpu but im not sure if you want to deal with that
