Building a low end pc around a 1050ti

BrooksC13

Budget (including currency): 500

Country: USA

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Older games,

Other details: Currently have a prebuilt with an FX-8320 (3.50GHz) 16GB DDR3 1TB HDD and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4 GB.

Basically Im looking to upgrade this PC for my spouse to use for Sims games, as wella as older steam games. Case is beat up, doesn't have an SSD or wifi, and the CPU is a bit out of date. Im looking to spend a few hundred to basically max out a 1050ti. A modern motherboard and i/o, faster memory, upgrade to an SSD  etc.

There may not be a need to do this, but I was hoping for y'all's input if this is something to try. What cpu/mobo would you recommend, and would any upgrades get more out of the 1050ti or is it basically maxed out already?

Thanks!

tbh, for all the shyte the FX8320 is, between multi-threading in games and the relatively mediocre 1050Ti, it's probably already a fairly good match.

i'd just stick an SSD in there and call it a day.

Stick an ssd in it and see if you can oc that fx cpu cause they are pretty good ocers and it should help a lil bit

If you wanna exchange the fx for something newer and far better then heres the option + ssd, though anything else that hanst been included you just reuse from the fx system

The FX 8320, despite its age, is still a decent CPU for entry level gaming.

I will only recommend to add in a ssd and call it a day.

If you want to do that, you can go for something like this. Adding a fan to the front of the Cooler Master case (as an intake fan) would work much better for the airflow. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/fPmTbh

However, if you don't want to do all that, maybe just get the different case and add a SSD like others are saying. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/bDmpgt
