People keep blaming EA here but EA had been paying the bills for this game since 2012 and even in 2017, Bioware had nothing to show for all that money. If someone is paying you money for a product, you damn well better have something to show for. Most of the failure of Anthem came from upper management of Bioware itself with issues between studios creating superiority complexes. I would of loved to blame EA for this failure of Anthem, but at the end of the day EA was not to blame here (surprisingly).

There is a good argument that for $2k the best experience is an X-Box One X with a $1500 LG B series 55 Inch OLED. In terms of overall picture quality.

This argument only works when you compare Nvidia's gaming cards vs AMDs, not when you compare their actual compute product, and even then only in some compute workloads and synthetics.

And power consumption does matter in the gaming space as well, mobile computing a thing. Not wanting a 400W space heater for a graphics card is a thing. Paying your electric bill and caring about climate change is a thing.

i think that was mostly due to them expecting the ngg to be working well, which would have put vega on top, but it did not.
about xbox one X what does it have that you are considering special?, its the perfect config in terms of compute and graphics performance but it cant be scaled up without more shader engines or faster blocks
specially with the rtx cards having tensor cores it will depend on what kind of compute we are talking about, vega 20 will be miles faster in fp64, fp32 it should be competitive, fp16 the tensor cores should mean nvidia is ahead, the challenge of comparing compute performance is that amd is still suffering quite a bit from lack of optimization, support for Rocm is growing very well but its still missing from some of the most used benches

As many, many, many, many people have pointed out the bottlenecks involved in the architecture design are the main reason it's so poor at power per frame. Based off some claims about the exact % of dead time on bits of silicon i'd guess a more rational design could do the R7 performance at about 300W draw. I suspect small Navi will be 200w or less.

I think this shows that when the platform is just a free piece of software that anyone can download and use, it does not matter.
 
Downloading it through Steam, downloading it through GoG, downloading it through Origin, downloading it through UPlay, or Downloading it through Epic Game Store, it doesn't matter. The experience is functionally the same, you make an account, you buy the game, you download the game, you play the game.
