Why support a company that uses anti consumer policies when there are other options?

I pretty much needed the same thing. My budget was about half of what you have. I ended up with an Acer nitro 5, but given a higher budget definitely would have gone with something out of the thinkpad line.

Just a word of advice from experience. Do not go "thin and light". I tried using my msi gs63 and it was so loud the majority of my teachers would not allow it in the classroom, and this was with basic note taking and browsing. Under load most thin and lights sound like a jet engine taking off.

Sounds like a cheap Chinese or factory reject battery. See if you can exchange it. If not try to find a first party battery either through MSI or used in better shape.

As for the indebted thing if it is not for school or work, basically any purpose where it will be an investment, then yeah very dumb.

As for the laptop wait for reviews.

My personal opinion is not to support Huawei. Also thin and light laptops are great for web browsing, notes, and office tasks, but they cannot dissipate heat. A high spec thin and light is a waste of time and money unless you like sitting in xtu and seeing it say thermal limit.

It would be more likely to sell if it was complete.

If you do part it Ebay is usually easiest for weird parts. Ram and screen will sell quick for next to nothing. The motherboard will sit until someone needs that exact model.

markr54632 reacted to GeneXiS_X in laptop overheating, what to do?
This is due to KBL-R CPU running too hot. Many other models also suffer from this
Battery life will degrade over time

Normally I would say depends on the model. While I do believe that model is super important, 4gb of ram is just not usable in windows 10. You really need a bare minimum of 8gb to do even the most basic tasks.

Honestly nothing new under 300 is going to be usable with windows 10. Look at used. Older thinkpads hold up remarkably well.

The gtx 295 shows up as 2 because it is 2. It has 2 GPU cores on the same board.

As for value. It's worth about what he paid for it. 50-100 bucks. He could probably sell the GPU to a collector separate, but then the PC would be pretty much worthless.

From someone who has had 2 nitro 5s the i5 1050-1050ti models have pretty good thermals.

The factory Acer paste is definitely not the limiting factor in any case.

If they are both nitro 5 I would get the 1050ti. It is incredibly easy to add a 2.5" drive if your sub model comes with the caddy and cable installed.

Adding an ssd to the hdd model is much harder.

I'm not gonna lie did not read that whole epic novel.

Sounds like you are going to want a heck of alot more than an i7 quad core. I would look for a used rack mount server from another startup that went under. Assuming you have a 1k usd budget shouldnt be too hard to get dual xeons, 128gb of ram, a significant amount of storage etc.

I picked my virtualization server up for 50 bucks with 64gb of ram, dual 6 core xeons and a nice raid controller.

The nitro 5 supports both. Most models anymore support both. Supporting one standard only is on the rare side. Although Lenovo seems to be going this way.

Decent review of the model. Personally the problems it has are my pet peeves, so I wouldn't be interested.  It may fit your needs well.

Their model is slightly better specced, but the same chassis. It is likely as close as you'll get until mobile rtx reviews really get rolling in the next few months.

markr54632 got a reaction from GeneXiS_X in MSI GT70 2PC Shutting Down while gaming, temps within normal ranges
Sounds like a thermal issue. I have had weird shut downs like that before with dried or pumped out thermal paste. Sometimes the center of the die can not be making contact and the sensors dont pick it up. You could also have a thermal pad that has disintegrated causing the power delivery to overheat.

Other than that possibly a faulty power brick.
