The RAM is not listed on your motherboards QVL. While this is not typically an issue, Ryzen is very particular about RAM.
In order to improve RAM support, you may need to update the BIOS. The issue with this however, is that you need to POST the system to be able to update the BIOS.
Do you have access to any other RAM that you can borrow?

You will likely need to take it back to the store then unfortunately. They should be able to diagnose the fault or incompatibility, and update the BIOS for you.

What RAM are you using? Is it on the motherboards QVL? RAM incompatibility issues can trigger a failed POST with a CPU debug LED.

if windows is showing the 4 cores 8 threads, then likely the issue is going to be Core Temp... Try Realtemp or HWMonitor and see if it shows up properly. 

MX4 is just fine. Likely only a 1-3c difference. 
 

Ryzen 5 1600 perhaps? You would need new mobo and ram tho
 
On a side note, what GPU do you have?

For CPU intensive games, it really does. Even with a Mid tier 1060 3gb gpu, the difference is substantial.
 
 
 

Thank you, I find this interesting and relevant. The memory part shouldn't be counted on because this review is back in the middle of april when MSI had no Agesa Updates yet.
While i never really hear people buying this mobo( mostly msi x370 carbon pro), It's good to note the the Taichi better in all those aspects.
On the lower end side with x370 and b350 Msi is still solid.
 

Imo, ever since the new ageesa update with the new bios, "ryzen-compatible" ram isn't as important anymore.

Vengeance LPX is good with Ryzen AFAIK. 

MSI has a lot of boards with beta BIOS versions that have AGESA 1.0.0.6

What's your system specs? what mobo?

Before running off and buy any bling bling stuff... Check if the ram sticks are on the Motherboards Compatibility list.
 
Makes no sense buying something, that won't work with the other parts...

i5 6600/6600k or 7600/7600k, 6500/ 7500 would be a sweet spot for a midrange 1080p Intel build. 

Or even lower than that i7 7700k which is kinda overkill. An unlocked i5 will do the trick for him.

3000 all the way! the frequency of the memory dictates the speed of the infinity fabric that laces the cores together. there is a SIGNIFICANT difference between 2133 and 3000 ram on ryzen.
