Ryzen 1600 Memory Speed

Im planning to get a Ryzen 1600 and a gtx 1070 for 2560x1080p gaming.

I wondering what memory speed should i get

2133, 2400, 2666, or 3000mhz

I mean if the difference is only like 3-5 frames in games i would prefer the cheaper one!

What games are you playing? Are they CPU intensive?

Also what motherboard ?

check my PC build here: https://valid.x86.fr/jyjc2n

b350 tomhawk arctic h.51 bios, Corsair LPX ram running at 3200mhz

case is a 35$ Zalman Z3 plus white with a cooler master 10$ (15MIR)hyper t4 cooler

20$ EVGA 450w bt (black cables)

150$ 1060 3gb@2.1ghz

there is little difference unless you are CPU bound, which is more common on a mainstream i5/i7 processor than a Ryzen chip.

go with the cheapest, unless you are upgrading to a high end GPU like the 1080Ti

idk

I'm use Ryzen 5 1600 with RX580. There is more than 10fps difference on DOTA2 between mem speed 2133 and 2933.

You will see a benifit on cpu intensive games like that. Since the GPU is not getting stressed as much on those types of games, the CPU becomes the bottleneck in this case.

I would say try to get the cheapest high speed memory that goes above 3000mhz or equal to.

You could also research which ram you can overclock on your board.

There is cheap ram like this 30$ 2100mhz crucial (micron) ram( https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIAD7H5EX2061)  that people have OC'ed to 2933mhz (now 3000mhz) on b350 mobo's.

2933mhz 4gb crucial sticks https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=285450.0

3000 all the way! the frequency of the memory dictates the speed of the infinity fabric that laces the cores together. there is a SIGNIFICANT difference between 2133 and 3000 ram on ryzen.

13700k, 3070, 32GB@3200

Significant is depending on which programs you are running.  Since we're talking games, most AAA titles are GPU bound, but the CPU does help. Running 2133 Ram at C16 would be a bad choice, but dropping a ton of 3200+ ram is a waste of money (personal experience).  Running an 1800x on 3399 ram atm, and I only get a 3-5 percent improvement over 3200. The change from 2133 to 3200 though is more like 10-30 percent depending on the title.

To the OP: Go with a middle ground. 3000 is really a middle ground as 3200 would be considered ideal (or faster but much less stable).
