AnUnQuietMind got a reaction from GamerBlake in Is it worth upgrading a 2080 Ti for gaming?
Hey, i understand when people think, my monitor refreshes to 144hz so i must run a system at 144frps. i upgraded from a first gen Titan X "980ti on steroids" to a RTX3080 recently. in CoD Cold war i was getting 60ish frps on my 1440p 165hz monitor so switching to a 3080 made sense. BUT...remember as long as the refresh and response is above what... 60ish your eyes cant really tell a difference, so that my RTX3080 wouldn't pull 450 watts i actually capped my frps in CoD cold war to 85. yes it can deliver max settings around 120-130frps at 1440p but i cant tell a difference with the frps at 85. realistically if your settings are maxed and above what 60-80frps, just because your monitor can run 144 doesn't mean you need it. This is of course open to debate and just my personal take.

AnUnQuietMind got a reaction from Jurrunio in RTX 3080 Aorus Master drawing 450 watts?
Hey all, i got my RTX 3080 and replaced my watercooled first gen Titan X. i got my hands on a 3 8pin RTX 3080 Gigabyte Aorus Master. when its at full load 98% im looking at the board draw at around 450watts. i understand that i do have the dual bios switched to "OC" so it is going to draw more power but at the same time was just thinking 450 watts was quite a bit. is this normal? I thought my old titan x drawing 350 watts was a lot but that was a 8pin + 6pin card.

and yes i did break down and get an ibuypower system because the only way to get an RTX3080 at msrp of 830$ when i ordered in February was through an IS. Im moving the motherboard Ryzen 5 5600x and system into a different case this summer. the picture ill link shows just how stupid ibuypower was, not only did they choose to not mount the fans on the radiator in push because of the size of the video card, causing them to only install 1 fan on 240mm radiator..... but if you notice on a 450 watt card they daisy chained 2 of the 3 8pins. something i immediately changed to 3 separate 8pins. and ordered more fans and properly set up the fans and fan controller so the case works FOR NOW, and yes i cut an old RX bottle in half to hold up the 4 slot graphics card from its insane droop...lol

AnUnQuietMind got a reaction from WihGlah in 6900 XT vs 3080
i agree,it all depends on what your playing. The primary reason i went with the 3080 was for ray tracing and dlss, cyberpunk and other modable games as well as COD are my main focus. my old first gen titan x even custom water cooled couldn't handle night city even when i turned the res down to 1080p. With dlss i can have it run it at my 1440p ROG monitor res at high settings and medium ray tracing with dlss on quality. looking at different streamers or people uploading vods using either 6800xt or 3080 it just looked better for that one title to go with team green. depending on the generation i change back and forth. not including the 11th gen intel cpus i think ive swapped back and forth from intel to amd probably 7 times. and the same applies to graphics, before the first gen titan x i ran two 7970's water cooled in crossfire on a 3770k., cyberpunk really shines with 2nd gen nvidia ray tracing. i know it now supports team red ray tracing but team reds ray tracing is a bit behind, there are defiantly trade offs between each game and each card. resizable bar being unlocked on the 3080 and 3090 is a nice plus too.

I actually was asking a similar question back in September and went with the Asus ROG Swift PG278Q and am sooooo happy i did. looks amazing and provided you have the GPU to run 1440p get it. im getting 121frps constantly with Gsync enabled in CoD BO3 with max settings. Higher frps if gsync disabled
Im running a watercooled 1400mhz Titan X but a 390x not sure how well games will run. I have not run with an AMD card since my crossfire 7950's.

AnUnQuietMind reacted to o0Martin in Looking for a 1440p 27in 1-2ms TN panel. Is it worth while to get Gsync?
G sync isn't going anywhere for a little while, and even if it does, you will still be making use out of g sync either way. So if you want to get the advantages of a variable refresh rates technology like g sync, then yes I'd advise going ahead and buying one if you're willing to spend the extra money.

Although if you don't want to spend the extra money, may I ask, why are you not considering anything that is IPS and also anything that has freesync?
An IPS Panel will give you better colours and viewing angles, and even if a display has freesync, you don't have to make use of it.

The reason I say that is because you could get the Asus MG279Q which is 1440p 144Hz and IPS. It also has freesync, but for your Titan X you can just ignore that. And all that comes in at a similar price to 144Hz 1440p TN Displays (Maybe just a bit more expensive) but a decent bit less expensive than the g sync 144Hz 1440p IPS display, or the TN one even, the Acer XB270HU and Asus PG278Q

open up a command prompt as admin and type in 'SFC /SCANNOW'. See if it reports any violations and it will fix them (you may need to run it more than once). That should hopefully fix your issues.

This is my titan at 1350mhz on air before i started watercooling it. no voltage increase btw. and i ran valley for 8hours with no crash.
On water cooled, i have it at 1500mhz stable with a +17volt increase. and it hasnt gotten above 42C underload.

Comes with shadowplay so you can stream to twitch or record for free and has higher clock speeds and better FRPS then a GTX 770. i have this exact card and it runs at 1300mhz easy.

yeah im with Legacy on this one, id also try for an ASUS or Gigabyte board if you can find one in your price target. Asus especially has amazing customer service and no questions asked replacement when ive delt with them. for example i made the mistake of using a Kingwin PSU and it fried every part in my computer except the ssd's and mechanical drives and ASUS replaced the motherboard even though it was 8months past their 3year warranty.

im running a 3770k at 4.8ghz  6ssd's 1 mechanical drive a gtx780 overclocked to 1300mhz and a pump for my watercooling. and i could throw another 780gtx in there and it would be fine. you dont need 850PSU for that build. but if you wanna upgrade in the future you might wanna get it.

My family is Scotts Irish, primarily from the northern edge of Scotland. My ancestors were chased to the new world by the crowns catholic police due to them being protestant so in my my family's mind England has always been a yoke around Scotlands neck even now that its not run as a monarchy. It would be interesting to see how the union would turn out if such a large portion of great Britain broke free. yet another colonization gone.
