You sure it's not an Aorus Xtreme? That does have 450w max power limit and they look identical

Hey all, i got my RTX 3080 and replaced my watercooled first gen Titan X. i got my hands on a 3 8pin RTX 3080 Gigabyte Aorus Master. when its at full load 98% im looking at the board draw at around 450watts. i understand that i do have the dual bios switched to "OC" so it is going to draw more power but at the same time was just thinking 450 watts was quite a bit. is this normal? I thought my old titan x drawing 350 watts was a lot but that was a 8pin + 6pin card.

and yes i did break down and get an ibuypower system because the only way to get an RTX3080 at msrp of 830$ when i ordered in February was through an IS. Im moving the motherboard Ryzen 5 5600x and system into a different case this summer. the picture ill link shows just how stupid ibuypower was, not only did they choose to not mount the fans on the radiator in push because of the size of the video card, causing them to only install 1 fan on 240mm radiator..... but if you notice on a 450 watt card they daisy chained 2 of the 3 8pins. something i immediately changed to 3 separate 8pins. and ordered more fans and properly set up the fans and fan controller so the case works FOR NOW, and yes i cut an old RX bottle in half to hold up the 4 slot graphics card from its insane droop...lol

Its normal for aib card to go past an official rating, and not to mention gpu boost exist and at somewhat close to 100% utilisation its perfectly normal imo

GJ ibuypower, you dont deserve to have "build" in the name

Where did you read 450w on graphics card only? RTX 3080 Aorus Master has a BIOS capped power limit of only 370W, maxed out from the factory too.

each of the 3 8pins is drawing around 110-115 watts plus what the pci express slot gives the card.

oh and despite the fact that when i got the text after 11 weeks that the parts were gathered the computer was built and for 2 days it was listed  at burn in and quality control it still arrived with 4 sticks of dead ram. within 2 minutes of booting up it would BSOD. I had to borrow a stick of ram from a friend and all the slots worked but they sent 4 dead sticks of ram and then made me pay up front for 4 new sticks made me pay the shipping to send the dead ram back and wasn't reimbursed for the 4 sticks of ram i bought till the ram i sent back was revived by their rma department....

see this is the problem i have Gigabyte says an aorus master has 2 8pins but cpu-z says its a master......but i mean by default it boosts like crazy stays super cool and has the little eagle action figure that comes with the Xtreme.....

i ordered the computer a few weeks before board partners increased the cost of RTX3080 cards above their original msrp, and because ibuypower had already charged my credit card, when the rtx3080 came in stock they had to eat the extra couple hundreds of dollars it cost because they had already charged me the original price.

Hey so i found out why my Aorus "Master" has 3 pins, there was a short period around march when gigabyte didnt have the PCB's for aorus masters but had a bunch of Xtreme PCB's. so they made a couple hundred Aorus "Master" cards with the power delivery PCB of "xtreme" PCB's this resulted in kind of a hybrid card which i have that boosts to the clock of a Xtreme but has the bios of a Master card and the 3 8pin for the extra power delivery. so idle at 240mhz it draws 30 watts and when active under load draws 450watts and boosts to 2060mhz... not bad for a supposed base clock of 1710? and boost of 1860? but yeah only problem i have now is if or when i watercool it do i get an xtreme waterblock or a master????

Xtreme. You go for the block that fits the PCB.

Noo way any card draws 450 W.

450W is average midrange PC total power consumption.

I don't remember even Titan X drawing so much power.

From where did you get that info?

Please do not take offence for my apparent confusion or rudeness,it's not intent me to be like that,it's just my BPD,be nice to me,and I'll return twice better,be rude and usually I get easly pissed of...I'll try to help anyone here,as long as it's something I dealt with, and even if you think I'm rude or not polite, forgive me,  it's not me it's my BPD.

Thanks for understanding.
