Asus B550 gaming pro non wifi, 5900X or stick with 5600X for gaming

Hey all, I'm currently using a Asus B550 gaming Pro motherboard, 1000watt PSU with a Ryzen 5600X and RTX 3080 Aorus master (with Xtreme PCB and 3 pin power refresh video card) and 4x8GB of Corsair DDR4 cas 16 3200mhz memory.

firstly would i see a gaming improvement at 1440p moving to a Ryzen 5900X over my 5600X?

secondly will my motherboard support a 5900X when it comes to power? it has a single 8pin CPU power not a double 8pin CPU power plug. my PSU does have 2 8 pin CPU power cables.

Ive seen videos of people saying my motherboard is fine with a 5900X but was still unsure about weather it really needs an extra 8pin CPU power.

all of this is pointless however if i wont see a noticeable FPS gain in gaming.

thanks for any and all input.

You would see possibly around 5% max improvement in titles where the CPU is the limitation and this is mostly because the 5900x simply clocks higher.

OC your 5600x and you have what the 5900x has minus the extra cores and extra heat. Also think of upgrading to 3733mhz RAM, Ryzen loves this speed, it is the theoretical maximum and where scaling stops for Ryzen.

Well, the 5900X is capable of boosting 300MHz higher. The 5600X is super easy to cool, and if you don't need a ton of cores it should be a good fit for you. But.. the 5900X is a fucking beast .. and so is the 5600X 🙂

It too is fairly easy to cool with a high end HSF or AIO

I have both CPU's and like them enough to keep them 😄
