Which graphics card to get?

Which graphics card shall I get, I want it for serious gaming, with the capability of 120 fps (while recording prefered) with maxed settings on games like Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare and I have an Asus v formula -z motherboard and a budget of £300. SLI or Crossfire are fine. Please choose which you would recommend and which is best. I dont care about sound as i will be sorting that out in the future. Thank you for your help.

  1. Nvidia GTX 770 2Gb £235

(I  do not care about the cooling on the cards as im water cooling my pc in november and i wont be using the card until then)

And Shall I Do A Build Log? Because im making another pc and upgrading my current pc, more or less tearing it down to basics and starting it again.

The R9 290 would be my first choice, but if it is a reference cooler, do not get it. I don't recommend any of the SLI or Crossfire configurations either. As for the 2 GB GTX 770, it's obsolete. It's too much money for a card that cannot max out graphics settings on the latest AAA titles. Are there other cards available for you to purchase aside from these?

290 with the Tri-X cooler. Don't expect 120 FPS especially while recording if you're going to play with ultra settings on the latest games unless you Crossfire.

Since you have stated that you don't care about the cooling solution, purchase a stock 290X and a water-block, and mount the waterblock when the time comes around. Happy watercooling. :)

If you require assistance watercooling, go over to the watercooling subforum, if you want to show off post under the Build Log subforum.

May I ask where you're getting this 290 for £240 from? That sounds too good to be true unless ebay/second hand? Cheapest Tri-x 290 I can find is £295
