kelvinhall05 reacted to Foxlet in Epic Games announces Easy Anti-Cheat for Linux (including Wine/Proton support)
Summary
After Valve's promises of anti-cheat support in SteamOS, individual vendors are beginning to publish Linux-compatible versions of their anti-cheat solutions, starting with Epic's Easy Anti-Cheat. The latest version of EAC is supported under native Linux as well as through the Proton and Wine compatibility layers, although the process for enabling it is opt-in for each game developer.

My thoughts
Anti-cheat has historically been one of the major pain points for many gamers trying to switch over to Linux; this essentially removes a blocker that prevented many popular multiplayer games from running on the platform. Given Valve's recent announcement of the Steam Deck being Linux-based, this also opens the path towards 100% game compatibility on their end.

kelvinhall05 got a reaction from AzzaNezz in why do people buy a separate pc for linux?
I haven't heard of people buying separate PCs. Separate drives maybe, cause dual booting on one drive is somewhat unreliable.

They're cool as fuck and can still hang with modern mid-range if not some modern high-end stuff in multicore workloads.

I can't think of any Android tablets that are even close to being as good as iPads in terms of overall experience. Sure, some have equally nice hardware, but the software is trash on all of them.

lol.
Rent a VPS from somewhere. SSH into said VPS. Either set your VPN from scratch (not that hard) or use something like angristan's openvpn-installer (Assuming your router supports opnevpn). Download the client configuration from the server.
input the required values (or if your router supports importing .ovpn files, that also would work)
Done.
I am not sure what exactly you are trying to do. You havent given us anything to go by other than you "bruteforced the hostname" and you got a "asus" router.

That's why their sponsored product videos are produced and titled as showcases, not reviews.
Afaik they do not do this. They may only share their positive opinions, but I don't believe they would outright lie about them. I do agree that it would be unethical, but they don't do it.
I'm not even gonna read the rest of your post. If you don't like the videos, don't watch them. If you want a review, don't watch a sponsored showcase.

I am not usually one to correct people's spelling online but...
Secret. SECRET ingredient. Don't need that final "e."
"Secrete" makes this really, really gross. 🤢

Might as well try and put an AM4 in there or socket 775 CPU in there, the results are the same.

That CPU is meant for a completely different socket. It will not work at all.

kelvinhall05 got a reaction from rikitikitavi in Qwerty is a legacy layout
Well the problem with something as basic as a split spacebar, much less dvorak, colemak, other physical layout changes, etc, is that grandma who just wants a keyboard to type emails and play online bingo is gonna be confused as fuck when she has to hit backspace with her thumb. Plus, it's more expensive to produce (two keycaps, two more switches or rubber domes, etc).
Have you looked into a custom mech at all? You can have an all 1u bottom row if you really wanted...

kelvinhall05 got a reaction from minibois in Affordable mechanical keyboard?
Wooting boards are objectively the best for racing games because the switches can function as analog controls and emulate a controller. That being said, either a real controller or a dedicated wheel/pedal combo would be ideal.

Just get a good used laptop. No need to make things that complex.

Don't overcomplicate things, especially if you're the techy in the family who will have to deal with all the problems. Does your brother want a desktop or would he be happy with a laptop?
