The problem is that the end user shouldn't have to do much more work than "plug in another card, enable the thing, and have fun." If it's anything more complicated than that, your userbase pool shrinks because it sucks.

Like I know you can create custom SLI profiles with NVIDIA Inspector, but if I have to do that with every game or every time something updates, it's more work than its worth.

I would argue a lot of what makes Windows feel bloaty is that a lot of extra things are turned on by default. Windows feels a lot snappier when you remove all of the UI glitz and tweak with it a bit. Like literally the only difference between Lubuntu and Ubuntu is Lubuntu uses a lighter-weight desktop environment and a different set of userland applications (presumably lighter weight versions). Otherwise it's the same as Ubuntu, yet Ubuntu recommends much higher system requirements.

Those folders have gone through file system level compression. It saves space, but may take longer to look through it or open the files.

Mira Yurizaki got a reaction from Jurrunio in Is there a way to unlock RAM speeds?
You'd have to go into BIOS/UEFI and adjust the settings so that it configures the RAM to a faster speed. However, this does not guarantee that the RAM will be able to run at that speed. If the board says it's compatible only up to 1333, then it likely won't like anything higher.

Mira Yurizaki reacted to Commodus in Why do people think that when you say you are into computers and such, that they think that you are a programmer?
This is a reminder that most people aren't technically inclined -- they may know how to use common features on their phone, but they really don't care about the minutiae of tech on a day to day basis.  And outside of security, they shouldn't. I'd much rather my doctor focus on how to treat me than on how to troubleshoot Windows.

On that note: this is why I'm amused whenever a techie makes a prediction of how product X or Y will fare based on the assumption that everyone else on the planet thinks like them.  This phone will fail because it doesn't have a microSD slot/headphone jack/rootable firmware!  Every computer that doesn't have a fast gaming GPU is crap!  You get the idea. But the truth is that normal people don't give a rat's ass about those issues.  They just want a phone that runs well, lasts a long time on battery and takes quality photos.  They just want a computer that's fast enough to play Netflix while they're checking Facebook, and maybe Fortnite if the kids bug them enough.  In other words, they're more focused on living their lives than obsessing about tech.

It's fine to be an enthusiast who knows more and expects more, of course.  I just think it's important to accept that you're part of a small group instead of a tastemaker.

It'll boot fast, considering UEFI sizes are still around 16-32MB. It just won't be very useful since there's few hardware interfaces that are simple enough to work with.

Any refresh rate and frame rate advantage you may have is practically negated by the fact the server runs on ticks at a much slower polling rate on top of how often the game itself runs a loop. So it doesn't matter who sees who first. It's whoever gets their shot in on a particular tick that counts. I can count the number of times with multiple hands when I ran a dungeon in FFXIV where I had plenty of time to drop an invulnerability cooldown only to die because I didn't pop it at the right tick. And no, I wasn't lagging, unless by some miracle all of those instances was from lag.

The only reason I can think of why professionals use high refresh rate monitors is:
Shifts blame more on the skill of the player than the equipment Placebo
