Yes, hello. My stepfather has a Class 3 federal firearms dealer's license. I've fired almost every caliber under .50. I've found my thread.

I'm just dipping my toes into the networking world (my experience up to this point is simple WiFi networks with a sub-par company when I was a kid), so I have a question that might be aimed more at folks running networks larger than an enthusiast's home network.

How in-depth do you get when you're keeping track of IP addresses on your network? I know I keep track of numbers much more easily with charts and diagrams. If i were managing a hypothetical network, I can't help but feel like I would keep a list of the IPs of routers and switches, and just label each individual device to reference when an issue crops up with that particular device.

I guess what my question actually is, is what is best common practice for cataloging IP addresses on a network?

I like my Xbox One. I understand that graphically it is inferior to the big beautiful rig on my desk, but it has games that I want to play and ease of use to match.

I think the speed limit on the road to my house should be 55 instead of 45, but I'd still have to pay the ticket if I get pulled over for speeding. The same DEFINITELY applies to revealing state secrets. His leak sparked a debate about privacy that I think is necessary, but he should still face trial. That trial could be the reason a lot of legislation gets struck down, but we'll never know as long as he remains in exile.

I see a lot of people talking shit about eSports because "you just sit on your ass and press buttons on a plastic dildo"..

Then on the other side of the fence we've got gamers talking shit about "jocks who poke a rubber disk in a net while figure skating around in smelly sweaters"..

The hypocrisy is so thick on both sides that MY takeaway is that the only thing both camps can agree on is that we need HIGHER STAKES!! Perhaps the answer is to re-open the Roman Colosseum? Real swords, real lions, and real death if you lose.

I can't say I agree with that, but I'll leave you with this: If THOSE guys made millions of dollars a year I wouldn't mind..

The problem is, the point never was that he was a genious. The media made it that. The point was, a kid was handcuffed because his teachers assumed his clock was a bomb, possibly because of his skin colour.

Yes, I am familiar with it. In fact, I would not mind at all if that were to happen with Snowden. The point I've been trying to make this whole time is he has to stand trial. As long as he hides overseas, nothing can be done. There is no chance for jury nullification if he doesn't go before a jury.
As far as military tribunals go, I don't know enough about the details of the case to know whether or not they actually have grounds for that. I'm pretty sure there's no cause for it, though. Any argument being made for protection of sensitive information is moot, because private civilian court proceedings happen all the time.

Gaming and porn when I was in high school. I'm talking 50-60 hours a week of one game, with a two monitors for dual-boxing or porn. I fixed it by disconnecting the internet in my room. If I needed to get online, I'd have to do it in a public setting on a computer that had no games.

When you use Google, Google knows about you. When you use Facebook, even search for people/companies Facebook knows about you. When you use Microsoft Bing, Microsoft knows about you.

And yes, Microsoft does need to know about your search, like Google. Why? 2 reasons
1- You are being tracked to know which page result and which link you click on, and stay in. This is used to know if the search results is in page 30 or should be in page 1. Both Google and Bing search engines are based on using a learning algorithm. If people stop using Google, and switch to Bing tomorrow. I can assure you that after a month or so, Google won't be looking so great, and Bing will magically be as good or near as good as Google.

2- Revenue. Your interest data is being sold. No they don't go:  "Ahhh! Prysin likes porn! Let's send porn spam stuff through his mail box". No. They regroup information in huge databases, and sell that data to companies. These companies takes that data which has nothing to identify you, to generate reports like "Ahhh People in the age of 16-30, interested in computers, more precisely are possibly computer enthusiasts, like cool and quiet systems. Maybe she should focus on making quiet line motors for our fans.. us.. Computer Fan Motor Maker Manufacturing, Inc". Companies LOVES that data, Why? Cost a few millions of dollars to get it, and allows them to know if a product will work or not, before spending Several million even billions of dollars and realizes that the product doesn't sale because it is not what people want, causing the company to potentially close its doors or be in a difficult financial situation.
It is called Market Research a key part in product development. In the old days, it used to be done via surveys. But a big problem is that (if my business book is correct) 80% of market research is wrong, due to incorrect, or miss understood by the person filling up the surveys understands. Also, few people do surveys, and usually gifts given to encourage surveys filling by people, while helps, many are false, as people just quickly fill it up just to get the gift and aren't honest. Also honesty is another issue. So that is why these kind of data collected is very valuable, as it is fairly accurate. Also, and yes, it is used with marketing, either to give you targeted ads, or know how to target product with the greater effect,to maximizing sales. This is so that your company (say you have one), marketing team doesn't go and say "You know what, we manufacture fancy GPUs. One market that isn't targeted are old people. Let's make GPU ads targeted at old people. Yea!" Ok I am exaggerating for a quick chuckle here, but you get what I mean.

You ARE in control. You have the options.
And what you are talking about is called telemetry data. Something that is embedded in Windows since XP days. It was NEVER a problem, never been a problem for all your devices as well, just now with Windows 10. Sorry, but I am not buying you are saying.
