So i played some OG XBOX today.

That bloody mammoth sized console with insides looking similar to a PC, yeah the OG XBOX.

 

Well i decided to play some games, and when playing Forza Motorsport, besides lighting and resolution, it don't look far off Gran Turismo 6.....

 

I loaded up Soul Calibur 2 in 720p.... not far off Tekken 6 but Tekken 6 pulls off more effects.

 

 

Then i just sit there taking in the nostalgia and think, shit this machine really was the pinnacle of console gaming.

 

Bastard thing was pulling off PC stunts when it released, PC would never see a GPU to match the XBOX Nvidia NV2A until many months later.

 

 

 

Just thought i would share it.

PS2 was better especially as far as games went

haha not really, the Xbox was more powerful and had some great titles, but honestly I think the PS2 still has one of the best video game libraries of any console ever released

there are like 2600 ps2 games, of course there is some shovelware, just like on the Xbox.

But PS2 had some great games as well. And the Xbox did too.

 

And yeah, the xbox was real good for the time/.

Well it's a matter of perspective and taste, i still prefer some ports of games on PS2 due to controls only, games like GTA.

The XBOX...

A separate professional version, with a feature-set tailored for computer aided design, was sold as the Quadro DCC. A derivative of the GeForce 3, known as the NV2A, is used in the Microsoft Xbox game console.

 

And a Pentium 3 with cut back cache.

 

 

That's like SEGA bringing a console out right now with a Core i5 with 3mb cache at a fixed clock of 3.6ghz, with a GTX 980 derived GPU clocked at 900mhz.

I didnt say you were wrong, I said in my opinion the PS2 had the best games library, though the xbox was the superior console

OG Xbox is still my favorite console, even if it's only for sentimental value. Nothing beats setting up 4 TVs and a hub in a buddy's garage for some Halo: CE

never had the original xbox, I was a ps2 player, but I respect the console for what it was.

 

lately ive had an itch to start collecting for it. the games are cheap and easy to come by good time to start collecting.

back during the days of the xbox a buddy of mine was a contractor in Iraq and bought 2 xbox consoles.  One was normal store bought he used for online gaming.

the other was heavily modified by a guy in Afghanistan who loaded each with all NES, SNES, Genesis, Megadrive etc... Roms

Yeah, thanks to the hardware of the XBOX, writing emulators for it was really easy, it's just Windows code that uses .XBE instead of .EXE, basically ported with the XDK.

yea I thought it was the coolest thing, and he offered to hook me up with the guy doing it.

but I was a broke college student working at a gas station.  Wasn't making 4 grand a month tax free like he was lol.
