Andrew Storlie got a reaction from koolerone in High end PC Low preformance?
can we please get a moderator in here to clear this up... this guy is spreading wrong info... for Xfire and SLI it depends on your MB specs and your availible pci lanes on your cpu and your plx chip... a Z rated MB is built and designed for OC K series CPUs you can sli and xfire on even a B rated MB if you wanted, just has to be supported by the MB. please for gods sake just leave this thread

Andrew Storlie reacted to RGProductions in argument over H vs Z rated MB, tell me please who is right
Only z chipsets can overclock. There are several h series boards that can do sli/crossfire, and several b series ones that can crossfire.

Andrew Storlie reacted to Electronics Wizardy in argument over H vs Z rated MB, tell me please who is right
You need Z to oc.
Cross fire run fine on almost all chipsets as it can use the x4 from the chipset for the secnod gpu.
SLI need x8 from the cpu, so you have to use q170 or z170

Andrew Storlie got a reaction from Phate.exe in SUPERcapacitors / battery
just make a battery pack out of 18650s, thats what i have my jeep running on, and i have a 1500w system with a bunch of led bars and shit. 4 18650s in series is 14.8v, perfect for your alt to keep topped of and then you simply run 4 packs in parallel to get the desired AH. im running a 4s20p pack of 3000mah inr cells, gives me about 400amps of max draw if i need it and a good 60ah capacity.

Andrew Storlie reacted to Frankie in Building a new desk, putting Pc inside and need help with mounting
For the fans and mobo, you can just print out simple templates, mark the holes, drill. Or maybe gut and cut and old case ?

Andrew Storlie got a reaction from Tea1337 in motherboard designers.... why?
yes having those pins exposed would be bad and alot of people would fry MBs but if they simply made a right angled plastic 24pin port, it would be easy, i actually might think about 3d printing one out and then desoldering a 24pin and adding my own, of course to a cheap POS mb and not something $$$

rule of thumb- if it comes with a heatsink....probably needs a heatsink

Andrew Storlie reacted to Naeaes in Question about Thermal Paste
On paper the Thermal Grissly looks better but I gotta say, neither of those have made name for themselves in the enthusiastic circles. Might be an indication of unreliability issues. I myself only use Arctic Silver 5 or Noctua NT-H1. With all that said, since you're not overclocking, none of this will matter. The paste that comes with the cooler is just fine for everyday use. You'd be unlikely to witness any difference.

Get the 4790K so that you'll be at the highest chip for the generation. Past trends indicate that you'll get about 6 years out of it.

1) don't buy used stuff on ebay.
2) if you honestly think the seller is going to let you return it, lol, but I guess you can at least try.
3) I think you now know the reason why it was being sold on ebay.

Andrew Storlie reacted to MorganO in Corsair 780t custom watercooling
Ok, thanks, I've done a little more research I think I'm going to go for a 38mm 360 rad in pull as exhaust and 38mm 240 in the front in the evolve tg
I think that should provide adequate cooling. Now just got to figure out tubing, I think soft is easier, and if I was to do hard I wouldn't bed I'd just get 90 degree fittings
