Rasmuff reacted to SlashedM in Will Apple ever truly enter the gaming market?
I thought Apple doesn't really like gaming that much, besides apple arcade of course.

Also, them moving to ARM is going to make that harder for awhile, and no 32bit support.

But its absolutely harder if devs aren't going to natively support it, as much as Linux gaming has made huge improvements, theres no doubting that Windows will almost forever be king when gaming, especially if more games that Microsoft buys out moves to UWP, UWP games never worked outside of Windows (Games like Forza, MS Flight Sim, or any game downloaded using Gamepass iirc.) but also just because devs will prefer developing for Windows because the bigger market.

Apple tried making a console, and Linus and Luke even played it iirc.

Rasmuff reacted to The1Dickens in Will Apple ever truly enter the gaming market?
I think the reason Apple will not chase that market is because they have a high level of polish to their software that games just don't reach. Once hardware started moving at pace or faster than major games could be developed, it is just easier to make them 'good enough', then let more powerful hardware pick up the slack. And at some point, it becomes a ball-and-chain to optimize for hardware that you were aiming for when development started. Look at Cyberpunk: It was announced a full year and a half before the Xbox One was released (May, 2012 vs. Nov. 2013).

With it being an "after thought" or "by-product of a device that can compute", they don't have to worry about it not being up to the Silver Standard. Look at Texas Instruments: people make games for their calculators, but they don't market them as "gaming calculators".

Rasmuff reacted to Donut417 in Should we expect higher demand than supply?
Id expect higher than normal demand for all components. More and more people are getting in to PC gaming as they have time. Plus add in the fact that the supply chain is still fucked. Then when the demand grows the a holes come out and scalp them parts because they can make a profit. Eventually things will stabilize but its gong to be a while.

Whenever Big Navi, RTX 3000, and Zen 3 are all in stock simultaneously, I suppose. But you may have a higher chance of getting struck by lightning.

I have not. Under windows 10 the section I'm looking for simple didn't seem to exist. I changed the search to Windows 8.1 and found AI suite. I'll try installing and update after I try it.

Rasmuff got a reaction from RogueNineOne in 2080 Ti + FHD monitors = bottleneck?
A 1080p, high refresh rate (144hz+), G-sync/freesync, low response time monitor sounds like what you're after. Specifically a 'smooth' gaming experience would be found at FHD. 1440p on the other hand, is demanding at times depending on the graphics setting.
Literally yesterday I upgrade from 1080p 60hz to 1440p 144hz G-Sync. I'm in love. But my poor 7 year old PC is however not! Haha
Just takes a lot to more power than I can offer at the moment.

As far as your bottleneck is concerned and as far as I know. 1080p would simply just not push your GPU to the max for the most part. Not exactly a bottleneck but just a reserve of processing power you won't be using. 1440p would use all that power most the time during gaming. It would look crisper but not always smoother being it that it would draw more demand from your card, potentially due to lower frames.

Hope that helps in some way.

Assuming your CPU is overclocked, and it can probably be overclocked real good with your setup, it'll still be keeping up with that 2080s in most titles.

I did this about two years ago and havent looked back. For devices I am using roku 3s in the main living areas and roku sticks in guest areas. They seem to have the best feature set and reliability for the money.

A good antenna is necessary if you want local and news.

As for services hulu has gone to scrap with their new billing methods and poor attempt at live streaming and dvr.

Netflix is well the same old Netflix.

Amazon prime is useful for newer releases and some exclusives.

Crunchyroll and funimation are useful for anime.

Roku has a decent media player app that leaves some to be desired. Really my main complaint.

If you want open source and customizable android is useable, but go with nvidia shields, or a high quality brand name box. Most of the Chinese boxes for 100 or under leave alot to be desired.

The last option is to go with media center pcs for each tv. Look on craigslist for older dell, hp, or lenovo sff pcs and add a cheap low profile graphics card and your set for most cases at 1080p or lower. This would not be for gaming.

Unless Chrome cast has changed I didnt care for streaming through a phone or tablet and having two devices tied up.

The Amazon firestick and fire tv units I have were significantly slower than the roku units, but very similar in functionality.

Ebay seems like an incredibly sketchy place to buy a Windows license, and it's a bit of work to go about upgrading it. /r/microsoftsoftwareswap is already really cheap as-is.

By default, no, but it is possible to unlock them. If the seller says it is unlocked it very well might be, but make sure they had it unlocked and are not just assuming it is, or confusing "paid off" for unlocked!

Also, make sure it's not locked to an iTunes account. If it is, then it's pretty much useless unless you want it for parts. To test this, connect it to WiFi before buying it and try to download a free app from the app store. If it asks for a password, don't buy the phone!

My Core 2 Quad dual-boots Vista 32-bit & Windows 8.1 64-bit as I use a COM/Serial port for chip programming & debug tasks--Win10 free upgrade was too problematic for certain tools & Vista 32-bit runs XP era tools better vs Win7/8 compatibility tab.  My main workstation triple boots Linux, Win7 Pro & 10, I'm mostly able to use Linux unless a certain toolkit requires a 32-bit Windows or Win7/8.

No. i wouldn't buy a dodgy unlocked phone; you dont know whats been done to it; you want to be able to do the factory reset and upgrades, then void your phone yourself when you actually need root access. If you really need a phone with root access you can buy cyanogemod phones with that do not break any rules.

You might find a refurbished iPhone just as cheap as a second hand one but with a warranty from apple. You can get them from the apple site http://www.apple.com/shop/browse/home/specialdeals

Buy your own equipment. You pay a rental fee every month for the trash Comcast gives you. The fee where I live is $10 a month. Over a 12 month period thats $120. That can buy me a good modem and a decent router that will perform 1000 times better then the trash Comcast rents you. Please for the love of all that is holy, stop giving Comcast more money
