Right time to build

With new products being released and the holidays coming up when would be the ideal time to build a PC?

I'd say next month or Q1 2021

 

That'll let stock readjust and drivers be optimized

I personaly have the experince that at Dec. 1 the princes are rising

but with all the now stuff comes out (Consols, GPUs, CPUs, NVMe´s... ) its hard to make a educated guess

also Corona has still a impact

Whenever Big Navi, RTX 3000, and Zen 3 are all in stock simultaneously, I suppose. But you may have a higher chance of getting struck by lightning.

blackfriday, boxing day, Q4 2020/Q1 2021 for used parts as people get their new shiny bits on sale

Not now. Lots of new tech announced, few confirmed data. Very poor supply.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

basically any time except now. 1 year ago would have been perfect, cheaper than building an equivalent build now. once stock of next gen components stabilizes it'll be a good time to build but that's several months from being possible lol

GPU: Gigabyte 980ti Xtreme (also placeholder), deshroud w/ generic 1200rpm 120mm fans x2, stock bios 130% power, no voltage offset: +70 core +400 mem

OS Drive: Samsung PM981 1tb (OEM 970 Evo)

basically everything was bought used off of reddit or here, only new component was the case. absolutely nutty deals for some of these parts, ill have to tally it all up once it's "done" :D

I started a month ago and wish I would have waited. New mobo, CPU and power supply for the 3080 when I finally get my hands on one. My buyers remorse is getting the i7-10700k and not waiting on Ryzen.
