Hi all! I built a PC for basic office use for someone a few years back. Turns out they no longer need it so I ended up getting it back. The parts are: PCPartPicker Part List: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/zPnV7W CPU: Intel Core i5-7500 3.4 GHz Quad-Core Processor ($229.99 @ Amazon) Motherboard: MSI B250I GAMING PRO AC Mini ITX LGA1151 Motherboard Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-2400 CL16 Memory ($61.99 @ Amazon) Storage: Samsung 960 EVO 250 GB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive ($114.99 @ Amazon) Case: Fractal Design Node 202 HTPC Ca

In general, or with that chipset?
-
Will there be any compatibility issues with the 3600 and that board? Again, trying to avoid any BIOS updates that would require a donor CPU.
-
Are 3rd gen boards guaranteed to be compatible?
-
Budget (including currency): Under $900 (parts only) Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Not for me, but the person I'm building for supposedly plays primarily Fortnite. They're looking to push to 144hz as well as some more demanding games down the line so I've tried to account for that with the CPU + GPU combo. It's been a while since I've been active in the PC building space so I'm very unfamiliar with the current lineups, especially with CPUs (I last built with an Intel Skylake chip if that gives some context). This list is heavily based

This shows shipping in early May, either way I'm willing to wait https://www.sfflab.com/products/dan_a4-sfx?variant=20948231979121

This looks pretty good and fairly similar to the one I just posted. Any reason why I should go with the RX 580 over a current gen NVIDIA card? Edit: forgot to mention, like my original post said I already have a 1TB HDD so that can be cut from the cost

This looks good as a general PC, but like my original post says I have pretty specific SFF needs. I've worked with that exact case before and it's still going to be too big. I've tweaked your list a bit to fit my needs, let me know if this still looks good: PCPartPicker part list: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/vj4HHh Price breakdown by merchant: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/vj4HHh/by_merchant/ CPU: AMD - Ryzen 5 2600 3.4 GHz 6-Core Processor ($164.99 @ Amazon) CPU Cooler: CRYORIG - C7 40.5 CFM CPU Cooler ($30.00) Motherboard: ASRock - B450 GAMING-ITX/AC

I'm considering it, but if I sell the eGPU box I'll likely sell the 1070 with it. For now let's assume no. I'm in the US.

Any decent cheap earbuds out there?

https://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-Headphones-RP-TCM120-K-Ergonomic-Comfort-Fit/dp/B003EM8008/ I've gone through several pairs of these with no issues (only because I've lost them). They also have a mic version as well for a bit more. Great if you like IEMs, probably not ideal if you're using to something like EarPods. -
Agreed, I had an XPS 13 and absolutely loved it. Currently on an HP Spectre x360 and it's not even close, build quality is much worse.

Hi all, It's been a while since I've looked into the custom PC market as I went full external GPU (AORUS Gaming Box with a 1070) for my setup. I used to move back and forth between setups frequently so having multiple builds was a hassle - being able to bring an eGPU and laptop on flights is much simpler. However, I've been noticing a lot of thermal issues with my particular laptop and I'm finding I'm not moving as much as I had expected, so a full desktop is a possibility again. However, I'd still like to keep it SFF so transportation is possible. I use a 1080p 144hz monitor

what is the cheapest and most reliable windows key out there?
aeroencychris replied to Classic-master's topic in Windows
I've used /r/microsofthardwareswap plenty of times without any issues for both Windows and Office keys. -
Windows PC build frequently powering off after use
aeroencychris replied to aeroencychris's topic in Troubleshooting
That was my initial thought which is supported by these vague errors in Event Viewer but it doesn't really explain why it only happens with certain tasks. Maybe I'll give Fractal a call and see what they can do. -
Hi all, I recently did a build (specs) for a client but noticed that although the Windows install went fine, the computer would frequently go black as if losing power and reboot when doing certain tasks. I noticed this today when trying to download some programs but it's also happened when just using a web browser. However, it seems to idle on the desktop with no problems and has even sustained a 24 hour AIDA64 stability test (stressed CPU, SSD and memory). My initial thought was that the SSD was at fault since the problem seemed to go away when using a spare HDD with a
