I quite like the AMD GPU offerings, and AFMF (frame generation) working outside of the game engine has worked quite well for me with my 7800 XT. I don't really need DLSS or raytracing.

The Intel N100 minis are usually fine, I wouldn't go with anything lower. You can find them for 150 USD/EUR sometimes.

Naijin got a reaction from dmvdberg in New keycaps for Logi MX mech (full)
If you know you have MX style switches and keycaps, look for a set of those. The layout is ISO. If I'm not mistaken, these do use low profile keycaps. Plenty of sets to find but these stock ones appear to shine through and have north facing RGB? Most custom sets do not have shine through (milky could work).
Look for "low profile ISO mx keycaps" and you should find what you need.

Someone on Reddit was in exactly the same boat, more info about the keycaps and keyboard in the comments:

Naijin got a reaction from Tan3l6 in I'm wondering if i should get a Arctic Liquid freezer 3 240 or 360 for my Ryzen 7 5800x?
Both will be just fine. If you go larger, usually it means more quiet operation at the same temperatures or lower temperature at the same noise level.
Do note that a good dual tower heatsink can work just as well these days. The Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 is the successor to the Peerless Assassin 120 and can perform like the Noctua NH-D15 or better.

Correct on all those points, so I hope to see some good results soon. Right now there's no CPU that does every single task best, it's either THIS or THAT. It will be an interesting few years to come 🙂

I just read the TPU article, this is hilarious.
This CPU just doesn't make sense, a huge power draw and on top of that, to get that performance, you need a big and powerful cooler.

Intel probably knows it made some wrong decisions in R&D and hope they will be back in the game soon. The 7800X3D is still gaming king, which is the case for a lot of buyers. It's much more efficient as well. They need to cut power by 1/2 or even to 1/3 of the 14900KS while keeping the same performance. That's going to require some redesigns for sure. Remember the Ryzen 1000 release? The 1800x was crushing Intel and they got scared, rapidly increasing core counts in the i7/i9 8000 and 9000 series.

It's like AMD is leading and Intel is kind of clueless trying to keep up. Not going to deny, the 14900KS, even others as well, are impressive, but for some buyers the power draw and/or temperatures matter. Not every user wants to spend extra on beefy cooling, but if you don't with this chip, you'll leave a lot of performance on the table.

Naijin got a reaction from AngeloB in A couple questions about setting up a soundbar
ARC supports compressed 5.1, but generally, the 11.1.4 soundbar (which I even never heard of existed) will basically process the audio itself and use whatever speaker it thinks is better. It will work just fine and give you a surround experience with ARC, even optical, but never true uncompressed. The soundbar you are looking at is basically just 5.1 with its own (virtual) surround speakers that make it 11.1.4 channel.

I wouldn't worry too much about those channels or ARC, it will work 🙂
(My parents use a Sonos Playbar and 2 ONE SL speakers for surround, works just fine through optical)

See this picture for a comparison of ARC and eARC:

Via the TV you will use the ARC port (or eARC). All audio, wether you use a tv box, gaming console, usb,... will pass through the ARC port to your soundbar if it's connected. A decent soundbar (if not all) will also automatically power on when the TV powers on. I always advise to use the ARC port if you TV has it.

This is the most extensive troubleshooting that you can expect. If you're not able to do circuit board repair, you're not gonna get any farther.

The graphics card doesn't work in the seller's PC, and it doesn't work in yours. For me as a buyer, I'd be happy to conclude that it simply doesn't work at all.
I'm gonna guess that you got it for a really good price because it was broken and you'd rather have a working GPU for cheap, which of course anybody would prefer that.

Naijin got a reaction from Lurick in Higher Voltage on CPU than usual
It's perfectly normal, but if you want to tune voltage, it's better to go to PBO and enable a negative curve offset.
The 3700x is allowed to boost to 4.4 GHz at stock. The voltage won't harm your cpu, unless it's running at high voltage (1.45+) at 100% all core, I wouldn't worry. Ryzen processors run a bit hotter at idle but that is by design, recent Intels do this too.
