Rodneyg87 got a reaction from Mattias Edeslatt in Lost video out while downloading a game on steam
2 years ago when i got my 3080 as it turned out my system would draw more power than a 750w psu could handle so i would keep tripping over current protection and during that time 1000-1200 watt psu's were so ungodly expensive it made more sense to go dual psu. I managed to snag another G2 750w for $74.99 brand new so i just put the 2nd one in my o11 dynamic and its worked just fine ever since. No I have not set it back to single psu since all this started since I kinda draw over 800 watts with this system the way it is. No my gpu did not ramp to 100 percent like it does if I dont turn the switch off fast enough after shutdown. The system kept operating just fine without issue but when I would hard reset the system the D drive which is my sx8200 pro nvme drive would not be detected and this behavior happens everytime I would try to access that drive. Today I received a pcie adaptor card so I plugged it in and the drive still wont detect so I think I have a bad drive but the screwed up thing is I was re-downloading a couple games in the last hour and as soon as I finished the download on apex legends my system did the blank screen thing again while the system in the background was still running just fine. So I hope I don't have a second drive dying on me, now this last drive is a WD blue sata 6 m.2 that I have had in my system since late 2018

I have a evga 750 watt gold rated psu my vcore is set to 1.425v with a evga 1080 ti hybrid with a 240mm aio on the CPU with 5 rgb fans and 2 rgb strips 240gb ssd and a 1tb m.2

I look at it like this I am tired of looking at the same theme for the last 2 years and want something different without Jerry rigging my system. With its current setup its white with black accents. That I do not want so by the time I spend another $150 on a new mobo then another $80-100 on more ram and then another $340 on a 4790k and another $100-150 on a case I might as well have pushed for a newer platform. Now mind of the 950 I'm spending some is on a new 500gb ssd since I fried mine so in reality the money I am spending on the new platform is about what I would spend for 3 year old parts because I don't like buying used unless it's from someone I know like I did with my new 980ti

I figured it out. I submitted a ticket to blizzard yesterday after spending 4 hours on battlefield 4 and no issues what so ever while having my card overclocked to 1522mhz. I finally received a reply from a game master from Blizzard and they stated basically their system will cause errors like that if any 3rd party overclocking software/geforce experience/ or cpu overclocks are present in the system. Here is a copy/paste of the email they sent me so you can see for yourself.

    Howdy!

I am Game Master and Tech Specialist Vladosiky and I am here to address your e_gfxErrorAPIError crash concern! =D

This crash can be a pain in the butt to narrow down. We have been tracking these specific crashes for some time. Many of them are from overlay and recording software. Many are also from overclocking which has been causing some issues for our games. I have a few steps we can try.

*Before you start this troubleshooting, make sure you have disabled any Overclocks you have on your system and uninstall any Overclocking software you have installed*

I am going to give you some troubleshooting steps. I want you to follow every step listed (even if you have tried them before). These steps have resolved similar problems for other customers, and I’d rather not send you through extra troubleshooting that was not needed. Please do not skip these steps. These steps might take a while to complete, so make sure you have some time set aside to complete them.

    1. Start with a clean video card driver install. Completely uninstall your Nvidia drivers using: http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html

Instructions for the Display Driver Uninstaller: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/367109-display-driver-uninstaller-how-use.html

    2. Download the newest driver and install it: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

Make sure you do a clean install: http://www.sevenforums.com/attachments/tutorials/312657d1396562995-nvidia-drivers-avoid-problems-clean-install-drivers-set-up.jpg

Also do not install the following when you do this:
    3D Vision Drivers
    Shadowplay
    Nvidia Geforce Experience

These are not needed for your computer. Make sure these are uninstalled.

    3. Use System file checker: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/929833

    4. Create a new windows admin account: https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/Creating-a-New-Administrator-Account

    5. Follow all steps at: https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/Closing-Background-Applications to verify if any other running programs or services may be causing an issue.

If these steps do not help, please attach a new MSINFO and DXDIAG. Please understand we can verify if any steps were skipped when viewing these files. If all the steps were taken and the issue still resides, we can try some other steps: http://battle.net/support/article/200581

I hope this helps resolve the issue! =)

My current system 4690k 16gb ram msi sli krait eition mobo and a evga 750w psu. I built this system july of last year and got a sapphire 390 when I did but life happened and needed gas, groceries, and uniforms to start a new job so it had to go and now im trying to put a new high end gpu back into my system since its currently running with a gtx 660 i bought off craigslist for $50 5 months ago. The big reason I'm hoping for it to drop to that is if its at about that point I can afford a nice 1440p monitor to go along with it. I'm gonig to have about $600 to play with to make both happen and I figure a decent 1440p monitor will run me at least $200 then after adding in tax and any shipping will eat up all my $600 and if i have to throw a few dollars extra no big deal but not wanting to go $20+ for the combo

yea the thermal issue isn't a problem with me I always take my gpu's apart and put better thermal compound on anyways so putting a few thermal pads on while im doing it is no problem for me

From the videos that I've seen just on how hard the RX-480 gets hit with the wiffle bat on AMD cpu's I would say most definitely you would see massive gains since the RX-480 usually sees a 15+ fps improvement when paired with a strong intel chip..

Well for me 8gb of vram will be awesome since that leaves plenty of headroom for when this build is 100% i plan to have crossfire 390's pushing 3-1920x1080p panels

True but either way the "new" sapphire design/color scheme goes really well with my white and black build theme so its worth the extra $50 or so if its literally the same performance as the 290
pretty much ive been away from LTT for a while well except for coming on here to ask a question about a month ago

    No prob
I believe the reason people think its so expensive is because you are pretty much forced to buy 16 gigs at one time versus with standard systems you only have buy 8 gigs so you spend about half the price but if your already buying 16 gigs its only a couple dollars.

For cooling/silent operation R5 any day but for aesthetics the H440 which is what im going with since im a headphone gamer and can care less about silence and would rather my pc be more visually pleasing

For the gaming community as a whole mobile/casual gaming is becoming more popular than hard-core gaming so it makes sense especially since the new Shield will bring in a lot more revenue than the new Titan will

You do know the stock Nissan GT-R (R35 version 2009 and up) comes with a stock speed limiter of 112mph. There are ways around this with handheld tuning devices that cost $500-700 but if you purchased one from the dealership and expect that advertised 193mph top speed you would be very disappointed.

I know this is unrelated to the topic at hand but I figured that I would throw that out there since it is technically on the same kind of subject as the 970

Maybe in the future some time but i've been wanting to do something different from building a pc in a game console like Looperted did. I want to build a pc in something like a 900D and put 2-3 different gaming consoles into the case with the pc components and water cool everything.

Most definitely I am actually in the process of building 5 pc's for my old company that was forcefully taken from me by my stepmother but she found out that I build pc's and doesn't want to pay Dell $1,500+ for pc's because of their terrible customer support so im building her 5 of them and charging $1,000 each. Yea im charging to much but the bitch took my company so she isnt getting a deal from me lol. I'll probably have just over $2,000 in parts and I will be making $5,000 off of this deal. And she gave me half up front lol

I know what you mean a friend of mine came over with his kids the other day to chill for a while and I have a bunch of vintage gaming consoles in my living room that I play pretty often and his boys looked at me and asked what the hell all those things were. I have a pretty good variety of classic machines
    Coleco vision
    Atari 2600
    Nintendo
    Super Nintendo
Sega Genesis with Sega cd attachment
    PS1

You as well. I know my paper may have had some holes in it but like I said I only had a total 3 weeks to research and write this paper so I had to go with what I could find in that limited time while keeping it within a set structure and subject mater. The subject mater I based my comparison on was the social aspects, difference in power (graphic capabilities), and overall cost of ownership for a set time i.e. 2 years. So upgrades on the pc were not taken into consideration since the average upgrade cycle is 4-5 years and same for console since their average life span is 6-10 years and I did not want to have to worry about predicting costs of newer generations of hardware that aren't even announced yet.

And if it wasnt for Ralph Baer we never would have had Space War in 1959 or for Nolan Bushnell we never would have had the Colecovision and Baer for Atari no gaming console or gaming pc would have ever come to exist.

He will void the warranty Apple doesnt like anyone tweaking their hardware. The best advice I can give him would be depending on which model of macbook he has to sell his. For instance mine is a late 2013 15 inch retina macbook pro with a 2.3Ghz i7 16gb of ram 512gb SSD and a GTX 750m which when you combine the fact that I have the 3 year extended apple care warranty, Lojack for mac, and Microsoft office for mac I am able to get around $2,200 for mine used. If yours is newer you can get a similar price and just build a desktop while still having plenty of cash leftover.

Alright no prob just figured I'd suggest it. In that case I would do like I suggested in my first post that you just sell your i7 and get a i5-4690k and go from there then. Hell to be honest I'd say you would probably be better off just selling your entire pc as a whole and start from scratch on a new one, especially since you could probably get around $800-1000 for yours on craigslist.
