Fx 8 350 at 6ghz ?

So my friend I telling me that he got to 6ghz on his 8350 and I don't beleive this for a second, mostly cause he's using a 212 evo...... is this even remotly possible ?

Yes, it's possible. It's the silicon lottery. It's extremely unlikely, though, and he mostly just got lucky if he's telling the truth. It also may not be stable.

If he got a lucky silicon lottery chip possibly, but highly unlikely. I've gotten my chip to 5.3ghz on 2 cores, but even then my idle temps were around 50c.

He probably got very lucky with the silicon lottery.. Or he was able to OC it to that, but it is not stable and turns off in a sec.

 

Ask him what his temps are and a screenshot in CPU Z or whatever.. I'm half like "he's full of shit"

Not possible at all. My 8350 has practically stock voltage @4,5 ghz and even with a twice as efficient air cooler that I use it reaches 50-52 degrees when under stress testing with aida64, considering the max temp is 70 degrees for these CPUs it's simply impossible, even under water it would be highly unlikely

Well back when i had my 9370 at 5.1 GHz it overpowered a dedicated triple radiator and was running at 88C-95c under load. So I retired it

so, a friend of mine managed to hit around 6 on a watercooler, but about 2 years into it his chip became that unreliable he just sold the thing and got a laptop.

It's possible but certainly not on a 212 evo. You'd want phase change for that.

Hell no, my FX-8320 needed 1.5125v for a stable 5.0 GHz and still hit the 70 degree max on my custom loop.

Hyper 212 evo is not going to be able dissipate the heat generated by 6.0 Ghz 8350 under full load (at safe temperatures). That said it won't often or ever be under full load so I suppose it is possible with a golden chip.

Honestly i'll have to call BS on 6GHz, it is definetly possible but not on a 212 evo. Maybe with good watercooling and a really good chip.

He's known to throw around some bs, but he still claims to have done it so I qanted to show him these responses to drive the fact that's it's near impossible
