  1. They aren't shipping Strix non OC to any retailers though, Scan who I've pre-ordered with have received 5 non OC to date, Asus then had to apologise but internally said to retailers "we prioritise OC models" that to me is ridiculous as no other manufacturer seems to be doing that. The next shipment is Strix OC and TUF Gaming, after almost 4 months they've received 5 cards...
  2. I'm currently in the queue for a 3080 Strix non OC, it however seems they're virtually non existant and this is almost 4 months later... as you can tell I've stuck it out this long but the deliveries seem only to be OC models or no Strix at all. There is a local listing for an EVGA card, I'd have to pay extra but I'd get it next week, should I wait out the queue for the card I wanted or pay the £150 extra once the refund comes in and grab the EVGA? I'd lose my free game but I'm pretty sure by the time I get it it'll be expired anyway. Tough decision for me, I really wanted the Strix, I'm under
  3. Hi there, currently in the UK the PG35VQ is on sale for 1800. I was looking at the LG beforehand but at only an extra 300 I'm wondering whether it is worth the jump. I've seen Linus' video on the GL vs the PG but the GN has a higher HDR rating and some other changes. I'd like to hear from users of both, is it worth the jump for HDR1000 losing the response time and extra resolution? It will be replacing a PG278Q and PG279Q dual setup. Thanks in advance to anyone leaving their experience with either.
  4. Yes, the Rampage VI Extreme does fit in the Crystal 570x quite nicely even with some water cooling. Looking around it seemed people gave up on their case choice because of the motherboard not fitting so here is definitive proof.
  5. I'd recommend looking at 15.6 inch laptops, there is a huge range to choose from then. Clevo based chasis' are probably your best bet as they're usually a lot cheaper. Cyberpower,Origin, etc etc should have a selection on their website.
  6. My PC comes in this week... pretty hyped... specs on profile

thats a beast pc have fun :D

  7. I'm thinking of replacing my side 1080p monitor's and going to dual 1440p instead, I have come across a fairly cheap one but I don't know much about it apart from the fact its ASUS. Does anyone have experience with this model? (I know its TN and in-expensive) https://www.amazon.co.uk/ASUS-PB277Q-Monitor-Flicker-Certified/dp/B01B6JD5A0/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1520382316&sr=8-1-fkmr0&keywords=asus+27+inch+1440p+ips
  8. Turbo boost is not useless on a locked sku, using Windows performance mode with decent cooling you'll find the CPU will always run close to or at that speed. With the 8700 having a 4.6GHZ boost and the K having 4.7 you won't really notice the difference, its only when overclocked to higher than stock speeds that you might.
  9. "you barely pull 800w"... meaning an 850 would more than suffice even at 5GHZ.
  10. Why would you? the 1080 Ti will be a beast for a while yet, if its pulling over 100 FPS at 1440p unless you're gaming at 4k anything more is overkill. GPU prices are also inflated so any next gen cards will most likely keep to that.
  11. Way too much, even with an 8700k at 5GHZ and 2 1080 Ti's you barely pull 800w.
  12. I've just bought a system with a 1080 Ti since I play at 1440p with high/ultra high settings and not ultra and i'm seeing the FPS benchmarks show above 100 FPS in the titles I play. No-one actually knows when the new generation is coming out, whether its a refresh or not or the price. Literally all that has been said is there might be a showing at GDC/GTC but its not confirmed and the names are from some German site that hasn't predicted anything before.
  13. Get a regular Ryzen chip (Ryzen 5) and something like an RX 560/570 if you want free-sync and can afford the price increase.
  14. It should be alright but you won't have much breathing room if any at all if the cards and your CPU are overclocked.
  15. I'd wait to see if they release an 8700 variant personally. EDIT: there is actually one available its just out of stock currently https://www.amazon.com/MSI-Trident-8RD-001US-Enthusiast-Desktop/dp/B079NCBBG5/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1519421035&sr=1-3&keywords=msi+trident+3
