R9 nano Full cover block

AquaComputer announced one of the first full-coverage water blocks for the Radeon R9 Nano, the Kryographics R9 Nano. This single-slot thick block made of copper, with an acrylic top (opaque brushed aluminium top option also available), covers almost the entire area of the incredibly compact PCB of the R9 Nano, its coolant channel passes over both the GPU and VRM areas of the card. Pre-orders for the card will begin on Friday (11/09), the block will be available the following week.

Well that was quick and IMHO a bit pointless for the nano but someone will watercool it because they can.

Ek just announced theirs as well a few hours ago on their Facebook page. No pics yet of the block and it will probably be a month or so before we see the block. All in all even though I've got two 980ti's I'm very happy that manufactures are making blocks for the fury nano. It just goes to show how far water cooling has came from the good old days. :)

Not pointless, quite expected actually. The GPUs in the nano are binned. For prosumers, to which money is less of a concern, can watercolor and CO the cream of the crop.

No it wont because it has only one 8-pin power connector so even if you could push it a lot higher you wont be able to as you cant supply it with enough power.

 

But this block makes mATX 3way or possibly 4way (if there is such board) CF a thing.

The main limitation on the Nano isn't temps, it's power delivery. Even with excellent cooling like that you're just not going to be able to get around those limitations.

Yes and no, you're power limited, even if you push the power target to +50% you'd peak at 262watts but you would get the most clock for watt than the Fury or FuryX, but the power wall would also gimp your total clock.

considering with oc you can reach fury x performance without needing more power than is supplied, this actually makes sense - more so than an actual fury x (although it's more expensive and requires a custom loop).

I think it throttles to stay inside 175W TDP, not due to thermals. Aa you raise the power limit in Catalyst the avg clocks go up.

The 295x2 only has two 8-pin connectors. 1 should be able to push enough voltage for a single GPU

I really think the nano is a waste of amd's time and very limited money, the market for the nano is incredibly small as the fury x will fit in most cases that are bigger than a toaster, I mean sure they wanted have the best itx card but they should be attempting to grab larger markets as they are bleeding cash.

That's nice but, I'd expect Fury X get custom boards and blocks since it's fully fledged and higher TDP for OC potential.
