Hey everyone, I am currently using my gaming desktop in my Virtual Machine courses in College. With all the VMs I run at once for my college assignments, I noticed I was almost running out of memory. I want to upgrade this, but my 4 RAM slots are occupied with Corsair Vengence 3200 8GB sticks, equalling 32 GB. I just was wondering what the best path for upgrading is.

My System Specs:
CPU: Intel Core i7-12700K 3.6 GHz 12-Core Processor
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D15 82.5 CFM CPU Cooler
Motherboard: Gigabyte Z690 UD AX DDR4 V2 ATX LGA1700
Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16
Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16
Storage: Samsung 980 Pro 2 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive
Video Card: EVGA FTW3 ULTRA GAMING GeForce RTX 3060 Ti LHR 8 GB

Should I buy a Corsair Vengeance LPX 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) kit and replace two of my 8 GB sticks? Will this cause performance issues if each stick doesn't have the same memory capacity?

I look forward to hearing your suggestions. Thanks.

Performance issues? no.

Compatibility issues? maybe.

The 2x16GB version will likely be a completely different memory kit to the 2x8GB version, and as such will have completely different memory ICs that may or may not play nicely with your current sticks. Realistically, at 3200MT/s the odds of incompatibility is pretty low, but they're not zero, and so if you had the option of swapping out everything entirely for a 2x32GB kit instead, that would be for the best, albeit likely more expensive.
