Give old PC to family
 

Build this http://pcpartpicker.com/p/q2Y9XL and be set for a good 5 years.  Additionally may wait for Skylake / Skylake-E and  20nm or 16nm, as well as waiting for 4k(be it 21:9 4720 x 2160 or more 27" 4k with AH-IPS panels and being cheap-ish), so everything is subject to change ^^ (Hopefully NH-D16 comes out by Skylake).

Attempting to build my own case, because I cannot for the life of me seem to find any case out there that has what I want.

1. Earn a crapton of money.

2. Throw current "gaming" PC out of the window. Sell it to a devious customer.

3. Le drive to local PC store.

4. Le buy new ballz-to-the-wallz parts.

5. Drive home.

6. Le assemble the PC.

7. Turn it on.

8. Install Windows.

9. Install crap in it.

10. Game on it.

11. Overclock the crap out of it

12. Use it until it only plays new games at lowest settings.

13. Repeat 1-11.

14. ???

  1. 4k monitor

Upgrade to a 3770k which can clock to 5 ghz

Expand and tweak my water cooling loop. Dual D5 pump, clean it it up etc. Mainly cosmetic issues.

Buy a DAC

Buy some better speakers

32GB of ram (up from 4x4)

Possibly a second 780ti now that 980ti may be delayed I'll consider the second 780ti!

planning to buy a new rig... My current rig is slow as a snail : (

Case: NZXT H440     CPU: Intel core i7-4790k    RAM: 2x G.Skill ripjaws 4gb 1600mhz   GPU: Soon   CPU Cooler: Stock (will buy a decent one soon)     PSU: CM V650 80+ gold PSU.

Make my pc quieter and cooler running

 

replace noisy gpu - gtx 980 msi gaming =done

replace small old case - phanteks entho luxe = done

replace stock 200m fan on luxe - 2 140mm ds fans = done

 

Replace noisy corsair psu - evga g2 supernova = acquiring soon

Replace noisy h100i - noctua nh-d15 = acquiring soon

 

I WILL HAVE SILENCE

Nothing for a little while. In a year or so will probably look to upgrading my CPU/motherboard. That is if D3D12/OpenGL haven't rendered single-core performance irrelevant (which is a huge if).

 

Long term goal is for this PC to transcend being a Personal Computer and become a home server, with it centralising lots of my storage and processing needs and having a series of thin client HTCP/Console/cheap laptop devices using its resources when needed, instead of requiring more expensive devices. Will probably keep (or go back to) Extreme CPUs when I end up doing this, and might go for four GPUs, but not in SLI/quadfire so that they can be used independently. This won't be for a long time though.
