But it's release succeeds it.

And we don't know that it did precede it, considering Apple are more hush-hush about their products.

especially if you dont plan on getting a killer build with it. it would be cheaper to just get the mac

Isn't the stand alone monitor a dual tile display? Apple had to design their own timing controller and internal display port connection to use it as a single tile?

yes it is. and each tile is its own DP cable. which is rather... unfortunate

I too thought that Dell was MST and Apple did their own SST, which is why they needed a custom design.

Single cable use won't happen will the new DP spec rolls out (and the new TB spec for Apple). Current implementations don't carry enough data for it to happen, sadly.

the iMac is $2500 base and $3000 for the upgrade to the i7 and R9 m295X 4GB from the i5 and m290X 2GB.

Buying the Retina imac with a 2GB graphics card isn't worth it in the least.

And I'm fairly sure you can beat those specs for $1000 remaining after the purchase of the monitor.

i meant the base model. and not everyone really needs a powerful rig. for example photo editing will be just fine on the base iMac. and so will light video editing. and you have to account for the OS, mouse, keyboard, and the entire package with the iMac, as well as the design is much better than the dell

The compromises that comes with being on the bleeding edge. I wonder how many of these Dell would sell considering the iMac is only a couple hundred more minus the 10bit.

It says in the post that it's a 10 bit panel

Macs were never meant for gaming, they probably only put a 2gb card because it was sufficient for 60fps browsing, scrolling, and animations.

Opposite,  the iMac is not advertised as 10bit but this is.

If you want to make that argument then i'll make the argument that not everyone needs a 5120x2880 display either.

hence it costs 2000-3000$ and is only available in 1 super high end all in one, and as one really expensive screen that realistically, will only be bought by profesisonals

And professionals need weak machines?

You just said that the people buying this don't need strong machines, and then said the people buying this will be professionals.

I'm fairly sure professionals will need strong machines.

I see, your post didn't read that way, sorry.

Although so far that is only a software limitation, but if apple didn't think ahead to make Yosemite support 10 bit then they probably won't update it in the future
