Google needs a plumber - MORE Pixel 3 leaks, now revealing some specs

D13H4RD

Another day, another around of Pixel 3 leaks.

The first one comes from famed leaker Evan Blass, who leaked more press renders of the phone in its many color options

Another one comes from GSMArena, who leaked the boxes for the Pixel 3 and 3 XL.

gsmarena_002.jpg.51a4dd9a8092e6e044d6c0f4cc196ae3.jpggsmarena_001.jpg.e06bf99eb51b6880921254c14eb2b50d.jpg

And lastly, courtesy of 9to5Google , more camera features have been unveiled.

Quote

Exclusive to the Pixel 3, “Top Shot” is one of Made by Google’s marquee camera features for 2018. After pressing the shutter button, the camera will capture a burst of frames just before and just after. Machine learning is then leveraged to find the best photos.

In concept, it is similar to how Motion Photos record a video before and after a shot. Top Shot is more selective and works to select the best shots through on-device machine learning. Factors taken into consideration by the Google AI include smiles, open eyes, and if subjects are looking at the camera.

As we previously reported, the dual-cameras on the Pixel 3 are for taking better selfies. To aid in that, a “Photobooth” feature will automatically find the best shots and take the images.

Meanwhile, another Pixel 3 exclusive feature is called “Super res zoom.” A person familiar with the matter referred to the feature as “pretty much like AI-zoom.”

While we’re not entirely sure on the details for this features, last year Google Brain embarked on building an algorithm that works to create artificial detail when zooming in very close on a photo. Compared to a blocky image otherwise, AI works to create a more viewable image. Announced in early 2017, this could relate to the “Super res zoom” feature exclusive to the Pixel 3.

Multiple leaks have observed how the Google Pixel 3 has one wide-angle front-facing camera. This will be used to capture more in a standard selfie.

D13H4RD's opinion

One word: MEH

This is probably the most leaked smartphone in history. Even just before its official launch, we know how it'll look like, what features it has and what specs it'll likely have as well. Unless Google can pull a bit of a hat trick, this is going to be one of the more boring phone launches of the year.

I won't doubt that it might be a decent phone. But this phone just doesn't ring it for me. Especially due to the gigantic notch on the 3 XL. It just looks so out of place and much larger than it should be.

These days I'm convinced most 'leaks' are just free publicity for the company leading up to their product launch. What marketing department wouldn't want to keep their brand new flagship product in the headlines for weeks or even months before it is released for free with a slow trickle of information via 'leaks'?

I think this thread says it all, it's just Flex Tape and Mighty Putty memes. No discussion on the Pixel at all.

And also, that naming scheme is kind of getting old now, it was funny the first time, now it just...meh.

I have nothing else to add so...here's an old meme.

Spoiler

It's just like a mini-mall.

Am I doing it right @Dan Castellaneta ? ?

Yeah, honestly, this phone is boring.

And I feel the same way about the titles. It's just becoming more of a chore to think of something nice.

Hopefully they bamboozle the hell out of everyone and release an actually good looking phone, but I wouldn't buy one anyway so whatever

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

That was the rumour at one point. That they'd completely switch it up and all these leaks were deliberate PR of "fake" phones to make us look in one direction then BAM, completely bezel less phone with fingerprint scanner on the back AND in-screen, with 9 mirrorless cameras, fastest chip set ever, 0 bloatware and complete customisation, and a battery that could last 6 days yadda yadda.

...which im still hoping for, because as of right now, the Pixel 3 XL looks like an iphones retarded cousin imo. It amazes me it's taken them to the 3rd generation to have features that are already present in the top dogs feature-set when they already had a template before the original pixel came out.

Not even a rumor. Google released a video poking fun at people covering the leaks as if they've been fools all along and that we haven't seen the real deal.

However how likely is it given the comprehensiveness of it all? We know each and every product they'll announce. Hell, some of them are in stores already and being bought by consumers.

At best they have internal hardware or software surprises but the device designs? There is little to no chance they aren't real. At best they've kept one device hidden but if they have, it's most likely the already rumored Pixel Ultra so if that's the one, the existence and name of the device has already leaked. If that is the case: congratulations Google. You kept the design and specs of one out like 8-9 products hidden.

To me the pixel 3 is everything I want in a phone upgrade. Same size screen on a smaller device, wireless charging, multi year software support, near vanilla os, no notch, ect.

Ah, hadn't even heard of that video. Well... it'd be nice if that "Ultra" was indeed their flagship bigboi and they totally blow people away with it since i do really like the (non notch) Pixel's design (with thinner chin bars please) and the Vanilla no nonsense added ASOP software look (granted i have a note 9 now since google let me down with the pixel xl 2 after i got the original, so i'm looking forwards to the note 10). Though if this ultra is just some weird lower end side upgrade..... well google, you tried...

Not Pink ❔ ? Reminds me of Boring Companys: Not a flame thrower  ? ...

You can take a look at all of the Tech that I own and have owned over the years in my About Me section and on my Profile.

I'm Swiss and my Mother language is Swiss German of course, I speak the Aargauer dialect. If you want to watch a great video about Swiss German which explains the language and outlines the Basics, then click here.

If I could just play Videogames and consume Cool Content all day long for the rest of my life, then that would be sick.
