First indication of falseness: TI's dont come before the "base" number (even though the GPU dies dont work like that)

Titan V and gv100 will never be made into a ti card . First of all , the upcoming geforce cards will be based on turing , not volta . And even if turing is a volta refresh, then the gtx 2080ti will not use that die .

GV100 is huge . It would be economic suicide for nvidia to use it in a gaming card , especially given that the gpu has a bunch of tensor and FP64 hardware that isn't used by gamers . 

No , Nvidia will make a gt102 card at around 600mm² and it will have around 5000 cuda cores , give or take. But it won't be a cut down titan V .

 

They did the same with pascal : take the gX100 caliber gpu , take out the compute hardware , and sell it as a gx102 gpu.

Usually it has indeed been (and probably a LOT more than 7) updated a bunch of times, internally on the development side.

Every time a new release/milestone/build (whether or not it's released to anyone outside the team/department/company is moot) is created, you're going to need it versioned to something.

GV100 is huge . It would be economic suicide for nvidia to use it in a gaming card , especially given that the gpu has a bunch of tensor and FP64 hardware that isn't used by gamers .

I think youre right. Most people probably dont realize that the 102 chips are actually the successor to the GM200, which was the first large GPU with no FP64 performance to speak of. With upcoming GPUs you may see an even bigger separation between the 100 series pro GPUs and 104/102 consumer parts.

 

Nvidia did a huge demo about real time ray tracing at GTC using 4x Tesla V100s in a DGX Station, so im thinking that their future consumer GPUs will actually have Tensor Cores, but no FP64. Real time ray tracing in games js a decades old dream.

 

I think a GT104 2080, GT102 2080ti seems likely, possibly with either or both having Tensor Cores for the ray tracing denoising algorithm that uses them.
