Posted June 28, 2018 So after 4 visits from Shaw including a tech supervisor it was determined that my old desktop now inhibits all wifi within 10 to 20 meters. Further testing revealed it to be the power supply. Posted June 29, 2018 A modern power supply is a switching power supply and a circuit that switches back and forth to change the level of AC input. This is used instead of a heavy power transformer. The switching circuit generates electrical (electronic) noise which is EMI. The designers of the power supply are required to mitigate the switching noise by both design and shielding.
