Bezels no bezels all I care is bang for buck , spending 800-1k $ on a phone , for me its like burning your money, I have a huawei p9 and I dont recall any feature that hasnt got my htc hero back from old days (my first smartphone) I need a phone for phone usage (mail,calls,instant msg....). If you want a good camera , maybe buy a good camera? , maybe buy a good dac?, maybe buy a good computer?,nahhhh phone snobs are like I want the best phone that is not best at anything. bezel this bezel that.... and gaming with a 2k macbookpro or worse , buying a 1k smartphone with a 400$ laptop/computer.

Just a random question though, is your opinion the same for the Essential Phone notch?

16:9 content just doesn't fill the full screen and you have black bars. Notch makes phone asymmetrical which is displeasing.

Essential Phone really was the first one with it, though it is the smallest one and yeah it can show more info, but still it's there as a hole in a display.

I pointed out how on the home screen, or in apps that use the top part of the screen for notifications/time/status stuff that you're essentially getting more screen real estate because you're using the top for all those indicator things leaving more room for the other stuff.

Turning off that 0art if the screen doesn't make it not there. Yeah having indicators on that sliver at the top don't justify it to me. It looks ugly and is a dumb trend. And that extra couple millimeters of screen realistate is so small why even bother.

I would argue Apple's inferior screen to body ratio is more because of the thin bezel all around whereas Samsung's screen folds over the edge.

Yeah but if you have bezels instead isn't there sorta black bars anyways?

 

I guess it can be distracting... but for me personally it wouldn't be something that draws my eyes.

Nah really, it's different too cause it's not extra unnecessary display at the side and content is centered and phone symmetrical. So in landscape videos are not centered to phone construction on both sides.

Some people like large phones though  but yeah the majority just want 4.7-5.3". A small minority actually want 4-4.5" and a small minority want greater than 5.5" .

 

I do fall into the category liking large phones but I totally get a lot of people liking mid sized phones.

Knowing Google, this phone will stop getting any kind of support just 1 year after the launch. And you should expect some really dumb updates that add and remove features, slowing down the phone as well.

Specially because no reasons what so ever and without any function.

But whatever, we'll start getting some nice looking phones without notch soon enough. Still glad how some didn't do it and look great.
