Can you even see the difference between 180Hz and 210Hz?

CyberFern0

This is for competitive and general FPS. I don’t want to spend extra money on a 240Hz if I don’t need to.

I have a 240Hz monitor, a 120Hz monitor and used to have 200Hz CRT. For the average gamer anything above 120/144 Hz isn't going to improve your game performance, but perhaps will make it just a slight bit easier on the eye.

This is subjective to each person, I can see difference up to 100hz then past it I already no longer sense much of a difference, 144hz and 165hz monitors have no purpose to me I'll always prefer resolution and image quality over stupid high refresh rates.

Also I can stay an entire day looking at 60hz without eye straining so eh...

It's entirely up to the individual, as each person perceives light differently. One person might be able to see the difference in between them, while another person may not notice a difference between a 60Hz and 120Hz display. Your best bet would be to go demo them and see if you, yourself can notice a difference.

Yes you can though the gain is minimal compared from 75hz to 144hz. You might aswell go up in resolution or "widescreen-ness". Unless you are very competetive the cost/per experience has reached a point where the diminishing returns are almost non-excisten for the avarage consumer

Yeah 180 to 240 doesn't seem worth it in my opinion. I mean the only reason i got a 240hz monitor was because it was only a little bit more than a 144hz monitor and I only had a 60hz at the time. If I were you I would keep your current one as the performance increase is so small compared to the cost and that's assuming you can even notice it.

Hmm for majority like 144Hz or so is more than enough. I've compared 144Hz vs 240Hz and I can notice difference, but only will matter if you're very competitive eSports like in games like Quake, CS:GO though. Still 1440p 144hz or so more balanced to own.

I have a 60Hz 4K monitor right now. This will be my secondary solely for games.

I play Overwatch competitively. I average at around 190-200 FPS on 1080p medium settings (with a 1.9Ghz 1080; yes I don’t know why it’s not like 250). I don’t know whether I should go for the 180Hz PG248Q or the 240Hz AW2518H or PG258Q (which ever price is lower due to the fact they perform the same). Atleast if I went with a 240Hz, then it will be future proof, in case I get a new graphics card or something.

Well if you're fine with 1080p TN then 240Hz I guess and use low settings too. Really gotta have top tier hardware to have have full use of 240Hz monitor.

If you haven't bought a monitor yet then go for the 240hz. I mean the 240hz monitors came out more recently so they may have software developed by the brand that won't be on the 180hz. Anyways the 240hz monitors are really nice and I haven't has any issues with mine other than the extreme mode. They have an extreme mode for mine that makes it ghost really bad but as soon as you change it to just high performance mode it fixes the issue. Monitors last alot longer than most hardware you buy so you should invest a good amount into it. Also most pro overwatch players play on low settings to reach 300 fps all the time. Depending on what you you have this should be fairly easy.
