Newegg sent me a 2700x with bent pins, and paste residue

Pretty pissed, ordered a 2700x on Newegg brand new, and they shipped me one with 2 bent corner pins and what looked like wiped up thermal paste on the side. I fixed the pins myself and it works fine, but holy crap that made me angry. Anyone else have issues with newegg? This is my first time ordering through them. My buddy also got shipped a DOA Z97 mobo, and even under warranty they shipped it back to him saying it was HIS fault. Don't really trust them at this point :S

Ryzen 7 2700x, MSI Gaming X RX 480 8gb, Asus ROG X470 Gaming, 2x8gb Corsair Vengeance LPX 3000, 120gb Kingston SSD (Boot) + 1TB Seagate Barracuda.

Are you sure it was Newegg themselves you bought it from or one of their third party sellers? If it was a seller well that sucks. But if it was newegg themselves there should be support channels

I'm not sure how their sales work, but it was direct from Newegg Canada. Didn't give different sellers like Amazon

If i ever received a CPU purchased as new in a cpu box with a broken seal i would return it asap, new shit=unbroken seal, Broken seal=immediate return no point in inspecting it, also its quite a risk to unbend cpu pins, if they break its your own fault.

It was sealed brand new, if it was broken I wouldn't have even touched it at that point. And yea I know how fragile they are, I've repaired some other CPU pins in the past. It's fine as long as you're gentle. But yea, thankfully it was pins right at the edge, not ones in the middle. Otherwise I wouldn't have bothered

You shouldn't have accepted it, and instead tried to return it. AMD doesn't warranty bent pins, so if you have future issues with the CPU, and they see signs of any bending whatsoever, you're going to be SOL with any warranty claims.

I hate NewEgg Canada. I find them to be one of the worst companies I've had the displeasure of dealing with, and I no longer purchase items through them.

7 hours ago, Frankieanime158 said:

I wouldn't. For new products you're better off buying from a proper retailer, otherwise there's a good chance you'll be left without warranty (product dependent).

And this is why I go to microcenter. If something is wrong I can go in and have them fix the issue. They also can't just tell me they won't return the item for a new one over the internet with little emotion. They are going to have to deal with me in person and if they try anything I can at least get into an argument with them. The thing is though they wouldn't do that in my experience. I wish everyone had a store like microcenter near them.

I think they mean selection. Amazon Canada DOES suck. Service is fine, but we only get 10% of what the US does, we miss out on so many good products

If you compare the selection to what they have in the US, as well as pricing on a lot of popular items, it's pathetic.

Yea, it was, I posted my photo where it said it was sold and shipped by Newegg straight from the order, not from a reseller :/ And no, I really should have though. I was swapping out my 1600 and mobo to give to my brother and taking care of all this, I just kinda got stressed out and didn't think about it.

I’ll agree the selection compared to the US is less. That being said there is still a wide selection. I’ve been building rigs for years (I run a computer business) and each one has different hardware. As for pricing, pricing is very similar if not better in some situations, this obviously depends on many factors. I use a Amazon price tracking tool to follow trends and predict when something should reduce in price.
