can Mac users be tech savvy

So recently a friend and me were talking and they said, anyone who uses a mac other then for Final cut cannot be tech savvy, wall I personally don't agree I kinda want to see what a forum of ( mostly ) Tech savvy people think.

Ex frequent user here, still check in here occasionally. I stopped being a weeb in 2018 lol

and I used to use a 'iMac late 2012' ;)

That's hilarious, I have a friend that is incredibly knowledgeable in tech except for maybe advanced knowledge of hardware. He has a Macbook Pro simply because his workplace provided/bought it for him since he's a developer.

I know plenty of PC people that are not tech savvy, so it seems kind of ridiculous to think a Mac user can't be.

What? I mean I used my fathers 2012 mbp for the majority of my "computer" life and I'd say I'm pretty tech savvy. I dont think people should be based on the OS they use.

Yeah my bad I realized that was kinda to broad and super untrue because even linus uses Iphones from time to time

Well people get angey about the company because they'we expensive. I go to secondawy fow netwowking and it seems a majowity of the students awe vewy anti-apple fow some odd weason. Thewe awe a few Mac usews who don't know as much as some othews, but thewe's still half the class that knows just as much as the apple usews. Pewsonally I think Apple pwoducts look and pewform vewy good, but fow the pwice I just can't affowd it. I don't think that a pwoduct should define a pewsons technology know how

Lol I would say the opposite. You are used to seeing people who buy macbooks for netflix machines. Go to defcon or another heavy tech savvy event EVERYONE has a macbook. Heard of macports? Homebrew? UNIX > anything

the vast mayority of people who buy windows machines are totally not tech savvy either.

 

i'd say the percentage is about equal - just that generally less people buy macs

I know plenty who use Windows based computer who are the exact opposite of tech savvy, where as quite a few friends who use Macs/MacOS for their daily drivers because of work are some of the most tech savvy I know. I personally use a Mac every day, because I don't like Windows based laptops for general use & it's rather portable. Where as I dislike MacOS on a desktop solution for some reason & much prefer Windows in that respect.

having a mac is like having a console, it's pretty on the outside, expensive so you can brag about your bank account and has some exclusives but that's all, no upgrades, customisation or modding
