Cursed Windows 98.

That's S3 for you. 😛

Also had my FX cards doing fluro this morning. The S3 drivers did something to the Nvidia ones.

Ended up picking one of these up from a recycled PC at work earlier this week. At some point I might throw it into my ProSignia 165 and see how Windows ME likes it.

CPU fan from my Celeron 300A on the cooler from the Duron 1000, fan donated by the Vanta (the MX400 is an Nvidia scam - same tier as Vanta except named as next tier up), and a PIII 1000. This Jetway build is fantastic:

My Mum bought a firewire card for her first laptop because she didn't recognise the small firewire port on it. Had to demonstrate it to her years latter when I was archiving footage from her digital tape camcorder. Can't do it again though now that the camera won't turn on (it also zaps me when plugged in the way my old mini DVD camcorder does too).

Seems like a pretty long drive for a FireWire cable lol.

It's unlikely. Probably just did that to cram on more modules for higher capacity

No, each module has 12 chips on there or 2x6. ECC would be 10 chips or 2x5

This is the wrong place to ask but it's not worthy of it's own thread.

Best slot powered full height preferably single slot with VGA/DVI-I video card for under $30?

I sent my HD 7570 GDDR5 1GB off to test a PC across the country and I don't want it back, shipping costs more than buying another one. It was handy for testing but drivers are getting very very old for it. If there's nothing better that meets my requirements I'll just grab another one of the same.

Quadro k620? About $30-35 on eBay.

HD 8570/8490/r5 240 (all the same card) are OK as well, at the $10ish pricepoint

R5 240/8570 is basically what I had already, the K620 looks good kind of like a GTX 650 but slot powered and single slot. It's nearer the $40 price point but it would probably work fine for this use. I have a R5 240 but the ports layout on the back of the card make it a pain to get into some cases, the VGA is near the top of the slot and often interferes when trying to slip it down into place. Too bad the K2200 prices are too high still. The K420 has the right price so I might grab one of those too just as a spare 'i need a display out' card like my 7570 was.

If I could find one in the $30 price bracket the 750ti would be great! They're all in the $50-60 range right now which is a bit absurd but it is what it is, also besides the Dell model I think they're all 2 slot cards.

Ended up spending $14 on a tool for work instead of the graphics card I went to go buy online, so that concludes today's internet shopping LOL!

K2000 is cheap. K4000 is cheap too. Kx000 is cheaper than Kx200 or Kx100, Earlier architecture and a little less performance per watt.

Found my dads old computer in the basement and bought it off him for 50 dollars. Going to get some practice dismantling and cleaning computers on it. Taking bets on what hardware is going to be in there. IMG_20220618_092616437_HDR.thumb.jpg.f488058f0ebe56891efbe3bd6d642b42.jpgIMG_20220618_092537792_HDR.thumb.jpg.395bcfd70d8de4fb2d590822202c152e.jpg
