Car Enthusiast Club [Now Motorcycle friendly!] - First thread to 150k! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Don't lump me in with them. I'm an enthusiast of mechanic design, be it engines, weaponry, or productive machinery. Not a guy with a wrench that reads the marketing garbage AFE/insert other "enthusiast" brand that can't legally warranty half of their products.

I fail to see a correlation between people screeching variations of "forced induction is more efficient!!! Reclaimed energy!!!" and anything I've said.

If you can't be civil. Please leave

Edit. That goes for everyone in the thread

Question for car peoples: Does putting on a massive spoiler (like 2 feet high) on a Civic make it go faster?

looks ugly af and my co worker who owns it says it does and only “guys understand”

oh and I guess having exhaust that sounds like someone is shitting their pants.

They increase drag. So basically. no.

And the exhaust is probably just hacked off if the civic is how i imagine it.

as @techswede said, creates drag and slows the car down, also the exhaust modification might actually make it lose power

I mean I guess I don't hate it, I just kinda wished they didn't have it. I mean it sounded like it's just bolted in so it'd be easy to remove but then there's the screw holes and then filling that and getting it painted over to look like there never were holes is too much trouble.

Just needs a mini V8 to go in it and we're golden.

I like it with and without. I think its cleaner without. Its not a great factory spoiler either

For sure. Like I said, I don't hate it but, not ideal. I guess if I was in the position to buy one next year I would probably not care too much as long as I was getting a good enough price on it.

Under circumstances that I wasn't planning a 1,000 mile trip, I wouldn't want something like the 2013-2015 Fusion for my first car tbh just because of the cost. But since I want to take a ~1,000 mile trip by maybe late summer of next year like early/mid august. I'd like to have 4k saved up by about late spring of next year, in the meanwhile getting my permit replaced and doing a load of driving and hopefully being confident enough to take the road test in early spring. Which if I got proactive about working more and saving more, I could make $4,000 come in fairly easily. Through wage progression, I'm fairly close from getting another 25¢ raise which will bring me to $11.50/hr but maybe by late spring next year I could be close to either $11.75 or $12.

I know 1,000 mile trip for a new driver sounds like a lot and I'm not going to say it isn't but going east of Minnesota out to Ohio seemed easier than going West out to like Idaho and Washington/Oregon.

And I guess from the little driving I have done, I don't hate it. It's just I get very nervous I guess because like I'd hate to make a mistake which could be costly in many ways. But I suppose that's probably not a great way to view things.

Just respect the drive. 1,000 miles isn't bad. First time i drove ever was a 100 mile round trip. On the freeway. It was nerve racking.

After the first three min i was good to go.

After three years i drove out of state for the first time on a 9500 mile road trip. It was great aside from getting pulled over in Ohio.

Yeah, like I said if I drove more and eased those nerves I think I could do ~1,000 miles southeastward ez pz

Make sure the tires it comes with are in good condition.

For sure, and of course make sure tires are in good repair and fresh oil before doing such a trip.

Nice thing about Carmax I noticed was if there's new tires they'll let you know on the website. I was kinda disappointed with the results I was getting from CarSoup and honestly I mean I don't care too much that there is no haggling at CarMax. I mean sure if a car is sitting on their lot for months and the price hasn't changed too much then maybe it'd be nice if you could get them down a few hundred dollars but sometimes they've got decent prices for decent cars.

You sound like a fun person. Not being a dick, being serious. What do you drive and what do you race?

93 B18 EG5 Civic. 85shot of nos for the drags.
11.5:1 high comp build.

2000lbs With Driver

13.8 on the quarter without nos (Zex Dry)

Everything done that can be done to car, too many parts to list.

But overall, the only thing that moves in the car, is the air in the tires.

Was going to put a T4 in it, but meh... Soon getting a GT350 in the next few days, so no point lol.

I have a few other cars, Charger, etc, but this is my all around go to car for racing. (Not a daily)

P.S. Flames are real, because NOS, cant risk going lean. 2step 4life (funny thing is in the photo there's a sign that says no idling fumes, so I didn't, I idled flames lol *inside joke)
