Don't lump me in with them. I'm an enthusiast of mechanic design, be it engines, weaponry, or productive machinery. Not a guy with a wrench that reads the marketing garbage AFE/insert other "enthusiast" brand that can't legally warranty half of their products.

I fail to see a correlation between people screeching variations of "forced induction is more efficient!!! Reclaimed energy!!!" and anything I've said.

If you can't be civil. Please leave

Edit. That goes for everyone in the thread

Sometimes you can get away without having to go that far. But I doubt I'll be that lucky

i had a rebuilt engine that died in 30k miles.you could still see the assembly lube on the bottom end....

i wouldn't risk it.

I'm gonna get further into dissasembly before I even think of whether this block is going to stay in the car. It may very well be cheaper to get a new engine at this point depending on the extent of damage

There's a 30K mile engine in KC for $1200 + Shipping

I feel ya. Been about 105F for the past 3-4 weeks now. 17 years in this dump and I never got used to this weather.

and btw, what have you been driving since your car is out of commission? and what do you deliver in?

If you're willing to spend that much, and drive the distance, I'd go for it. Especially since you plan on pumping out much more power than stock, i'd go with a clean slate. and what about the motor in your parts car? did you already find out if it was bad or not?

Been driving my mom's 09 Impala. Better on gas than my car so it works out. She doesn't have a job so she can live without it for the time being. Of course been using that for deliveries also.

Parts car engine had rod knock, but ran when we bought it. Was driven onto trailer, where it decided to piss out 3 or so quarts of oil. Need to get my car more torn apart before I figure out if I can use any engine bits off the parts car

I'd have the engine shipped out here. Only car I'd be able to use to get it is the expedition. Which gets 13MPG no matter what. City, 13MPG, Highway, 13MPG, towing a Saab, 13MPG. Would be cheaper to have it shipped here, instead of drive out to KC, pick it up, get a hotel room for a night, and then drive back

anybody you know with a more efficient truck/suv? and you could skip the hotel and theoretically sleep in your car for the night.

I'd need the time off work after saving up the funds. I'm also not insured on the Expedition, or any other SUV. Rather be safe than sorry

I totally forgot to mention boxer engines and rotaries. Even though I grew up absolutely loving the WRX and RX7

They're definitely on my list. But I forgot to mention it.

Out of these two which do you guys think is overall a better package?

2014-2015 Impala LS/1LT

or

2013-2015 Optima LX/EX

I guess I would add a third option if that was an option and say 2016-2017 Malibu Premier. But that's too expensive lol.

I guess for practicality and cost the 2013-2015 Optimas win. I almost feel the base Optima has more features than the base Impala. I'm probably wrong though lol.

There is metal in the oil, which is never a good sign. Not sure what killed it yet, but it is dead. I'm looking to source a new motor now. Factory rebuilts are in the 12-16k range. Used are in the 9-12k range
