Posted February 15, 2018 Will this graphics card still work? What do you think? Yes or no?? This is a card I got for free, I didn't do this to it... Also this card was found in a very damp wet basement. I'll plug it into my computer later and see what happens Thanks, PortzJ
 Posted February 15, 2018 holy corrosion nightmare I'd try to clean it up somehow maybe first? It /might/ still work... But honestly it kind of looks like it sat in water or something for a long time. So it may not... Posted February 15, 2018 Clean it up first, then assess the damage the corrosion's done. It's likely if you plugged it in now something may short out and really kill it. I have a blog! Posted February 15, 2018 It probably can as long as it wasnt soaked, but that's like getting a car out of a junkyard and hope it moves by itself. make sure you dry it up, so the mineral salt on the PCIe connector dont rot your mobo's PCIe slot. Posted February 15, 2018 A damp wet basement will do that. Most components I've seen in that state of corrosion have not survived, but I've also put little effort into making them work. A complete disassembly and alcohol bath with light scrubbing might revive it, but those screws are going to have to be replaced. Honestly a 5770 probably isn't worth the effort to try to make it work.

I mean seriously, my grandpa lives by the sea shore and his PC (side panel damaged and taken off) sits right next to a window, enjoying the breeze of wind full of salt. Posted February 15, 2018 i'd call that repairable, but if thats not a card worth a few hundred bucks, chances are the propper cleaning supplies and techniques will end up having you left better off just buying something new. the best way of cleaning that up is to remove (and probably dispose of) the cooler and bracket, then reflow the entire card with a small ocean of flux. Posted February 15, 2018 It should be fine provided you get some alcohol and give it a decent cleaning. I would wipe down the Pci-e area extremely well.. then take an eraser to it. The pcb i would just gently try to clean off with alcohol and some swabs.
