Is it a good idea to uprade now?

Hello I have a i7 4770k OV-@4.7Ghz(custom Water Cooling) one a ASRock Z97 Pro 4 and a EVGA SC GTX 980 Ti, Intel 600p 512Gb ssd , 16 G DRR3 Fury Hyper X ,

 

I am planing to Upgrade to a 8700K with a ASUS ROG Strix Z370 E and 16 Gb of DDR4 Hyper X

 

Is it worth upgrading or should i just spend my money on something else

If you wait another year, you have an even bigger budget. And who knows what kind of hardware you can get then.

 

If you feel your current hardware can't do what you want it to do: upgrade. Otherwise, spend the currency items on a new avatar or sumthin.

Dude... you still have a pretty strong system, I don't know if you play in 1440p 144hz or what but your rig would make me last a couple more years at least, I do 1080p 75hz.

 

Does it fill your needs as of now? If you can still play your games well I mean, there would be no real reason to upgrade from extremely good to even better. I would wait till performances bother me. And by that time, lots of new stuff will come out and you'll have saved more $$ for it. But I mean, If you have the $$$ you do what you want haha, it's just that it would not make sense in my view and given my current limited budget.

I mean, aside from Ryzen+ coming out early 2018 there's nothing much for the CPU lineup as far as I know. Only thing in your list that I would question is the amount of memory. Might look into getting 32GB rather than 16.

Unless you're getting into Video Rendering, you have no reason to upgrade. CPU, at that clock speed, will handle any current AAA game and the only upgrade path for GPU is a 1080 Ti right now. 

 

Mid-year we should get the 1080 replacement, either the 2080 or 1180 (we don't know the name yet). That's really the only thing worth upgrading in the near term. You're looking at ~700 USD for maybe a 4-5% minimum FPS upgrade in gaming, while max FPS shouldn't actually move given it'll be a GPU limit you'd be hitting. 

 

The 8700k only becomes useful as an upgrade if you're doing something that can always leverage the +2 cores AND you get a 1080 Ti. Even then, you're looking at about ~1500 USD to get up to 35% more FPS in a few games at 1080p. So unless you're also buying a 240 Hz G-sync monitor, you don't really have an any cost-effective upgrades to make.

If it's just for gaming, don't upgrade. You won't get much of a performance boost.

Thx for the to everybody who helped. I will probably just get my self a proper Screen ( i currently have cheep Aoc 1080p with looks horrible)

i don't think an upgrade for you is a perfect fit for you, maybe get a better higher end display

A decent panel with a higher refresh rate is the only real upgrade you've got that isn't incredibly expensive. I was going to suggest a G-Sync monitor at a high refresh rate, but those are pretty spendy still.

I have a simular PC but I’m waiting till mid  2018 to upgrade.

Also consider freesync panels with an amd card for the future if you are to change both monitor and gpu, you can make good saving with same performances this way.

Unless the RAM is needed, I wouldn't touch that. A) DDR3 prices are still quite high, and B) any investment in DDR3 is wasted once you jump to a new platform.

Il just buy a Aio (my costume water cooling loop is quit messy and the liquid i used is slowly getting disusing ) and maybe a Scene and Cale it a day
