Do you use a cracked or legit Windows, or Linux? Poll

Legit and borrowed.

I bought Win 7 ages ago brand new was 99 pounds, i used the key for multiple installs, and the key ended up blacklisting, so i rang Microdaft, but they just shrugged me off.

So i use a Legrate version :P

It's not borrowed if you don't return it.

Just for fun, i will play a little devils advocate.

One could argue that can someone really own a string of letters and numbers? Thus can it borrowed, or only stolen?

Do you want to euhm, sell the upgrade key you havent used? lol

Nope, because according to MS, using it would void my win 7 key, and I am still using that key on my laptop.

Mystery is the source of all true science.

I use Linux and Windows, but when I do use Windows it's legit. Can get Windows 7 Professional here for £40 (~$64) so it's not a massively big deal.

Legit, because Windows, for what it does, especially if you understand how and OS works, is bargain.

Windows, at every release recently, have crazy discounts, like Windows 8 Pro for 40$, or Windows 7 at 50or 60% off depending on the edition. PLUS Windows 7 Family Pack. 3 licenses of Windows 7 Home Premium for 150$ total (so 50$ each). PLUS, you you are a student you have crazy deals, or even free if your school or school department is registered to MSNDAA/DreamSpark Premium. Really, there is no excuse to get a pirated version.

It's cheaper than a game, and the OS took more people to work on, more time, and significantly more complex and difficult to achieve than a game. Turning useless circuit boards, into this amazing tool, creativity and entertainment hub.

How do you guys feel about spending 100+ bucks on a license for a piece of software, that's basically a necessity (for now)?

Sometimes i feel like it would be like going to buy a car, and you'd have to buy the engine separately.

it's not really the same analogy. I mean if you buy a prebuilt with no windows, yes. But PC building is essentially the same as building a car from the ground up, and this is just one of the most important parts.
