I had to crack my own copy of legit windows as my key was not accepted after a clean install. Took me ages to sort it out over the phone with Microsoft.

So Yes, my copy is paid for but the other two dozen machines I put it on are just not quite and a little bit cracked.

Just a little.

Nothing to see here - move along.

How do you guys feel about spending 100+ bucks on a license for a piece of software, that's basically a necessity (for now)?

EDIT: Added more choices :)

Go ahead, theres no margin on software, they already got profits and their salary.

Ps: kept mine from pre-built PC

I bought one copy of Win7 Pro and I use a program to trick any other installations into thinking they're legit. $100 for unlimited copies seems a bit more fair. I don't see Microsoft going bankrupt ANY time soon and I hate the whole windows gaming monopoly they have going on, so I don't see a need to give them the ridiculous amount of money they're asking for.

How you find dual boot, i keep meaning to do it, but meh the hassle...

You just have to partition the drive, not too hard. In the Ubuntu installer it has the option to go alongside windows.

Sort of legit on my desktop, I know a guy who works in a uni so he qualified for a discout so I got it for 10 bucks.

Almost legit/not really on my lapotp. I use a enterprise licenece of XP that I got from the same guy.

I also run Ubuntu 13.10 on my laptop.

I have the version that everyone knows what I have but I still haven't said it (Win 7 Ultimate). Just as a side note, I get updates all the time and I don't have any viruses.

I also use Ubuntu every once in a while but I just run that on a virtual machine. Don't use it enough for a dual boot.

You aren't breaking the coc if you vote. We aren't distributing anything, let alone anything illegal.

I voted but can't tell what I did in the discussion because of the third point in section six of the code of conduct ;D

Legit cause my friend gets free keys from his workplace, and when Windows 8 was released, they had this special where you can buy Windows 8 Keys/DVD's for 10 bucks each so I bought a couple. :P

I roll with sigs off so I have no idea what you're advertising.

On my laptop, I use Windows 7 Home Premium (it's not a high end laptop), with a dual boot of Ubuntu.

On all my desktops, I use Windows 7 Professional, with the exception of a Mac G4 that I was given.

Next build will have Windows 8.1 Pro, as I snagged that from my Dreamspark account. (Along with a Windows 7, but I haven't given Windows 8 a full run yet, so I might as well.)
